Batman and Jesus

Not, Batman VS Jesus. It's a comparison of the fanaticism of Batman comic book readers to the formation of the Jesus cult. The filmmakers gather real people and get them to decide what is "canonical" to the Batman story. It also cuts to some very good scholarly history segments about how the NT canon was assembled, and then there's a 3rd part that also runs throughout, in a future where Batman has become a religion. It's not your standard making of fun religion film, it digs into the issues of how people decide to believe and how myths form. It also shows that the people who try to pick apart religions sometimes look just as silly as the ones in them.

You can rent it on Amazon if you want: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FDK6L8B/re ... uBbFBWYEAD

Seems silly to me. I've watched people arguing about the canonicity of Star Wars, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, and all sorts of things over the years. Some people go overboard, most don't.

If the Catholic Church wants to make up some ground, it should do some campy dance-numbers like in the Adam West Batman TV series.

Just sayin

I think a few scenes of Jeebus, the Holy Ghost, and Jehova climing up the side of a building with a rope would help. They could have guest stars make appearances, popping their heads out of the windows to make comments or ask questions.

Yeah baby!

Of course it's silly. That's the point. It's 1/3 of the film. The alternative future part is very well produced and makes some of the best points. The scholarly, more documentary type stuff is well done with the best atheist Jesus scholars, not like crap you find in Zeitgeist or Atwill.
