We can always fall back on older technology.

Oh, baby.... :soppy:
"Knowledge grows through infinite timelessness" -- the random fictional Deepak Chopra quote site
"Imagine an ennobling of what could be" -- the New Age BS Generator site
"You are also taking my words out of context." -- Justin
"Nullius in verba" -- The Royal Society ["take nobody's word for it"]

One of my friends in high school had a brother was in the USN. He saved all his Playboy magazines and brought them home for Paul. The "library" was in an old barn.

"... critical communications infrastructure that could be submerged by rising seas in as soon as 15 years ..."

and

"Much of this infrastructure is buried and follows long-established rights of way, typically paralleling highways and coastlines, says Barford. 'When it was built 20-25 years ago, no thought was given to climate change.'"

So fiber infrastructure built 20 years ago may only have another 15 years to go.

But according to the manufacturer, "Operators installing optical cable typically presume a service life of 25 years."

https://www.corning.com/media/worldwide ... 1-2016.pdf

So if these cables are useless after 35 years, because of sea level rise, they're ten years beyond their service life anyway, so the telecoms have already booked all of the profit they planned and then some.
People associating freely respect norms of their choice, and relationships governed this way are necessarily interdependent.

More central authorities conquer by dividing, imposing norms channeling the value of synergy toward themselves.

"Every man for himself" is the prescription of a state, not a free community. A state protects the poor from the rich only in fairy tales.
