The Dunning-Kruger Effect

In the past six days, the number of dislikes on it has doubled -- check in the comments section, they went from 584 six days ago to 1.2K at the time of my posting this. What the hell is going on?

What is targeted cyber madness?
Every point of the universe is its centre, so universe is an infinity inside a dimensionless point. The dimensions we intute are within this point. That is why quantum mechanics is not weird. Entanglement becomes possible.
Actually, all existence is zero dimensional.
Everything is in me and I am there in everything. Only I existed in the past, only I exist now, and, only I will be existing in the future. Everything was done, is being done, and will be done by me.
I am the universe.

More than one way to delegitimize facts.

The video was good, but it was mostly about politics, rather than the Dunning Kruger effect.
Listening twice as much as you speak is a sign of wisdom.

That's like saying "it was mostly about hitting the ball and running the bases rather than about playing baseball". :P

Do you mean to say that all political beliefs involve the Dunning Kruger effect?

No, just that the correlation is strong.

I didn't watch the video. D-K effect with Trump in the Display screen? I don't need to be pimped about what I already believe: all politicians think they are smarter than they really are. The DK effect on daily display.................

With politicians in general, with the glaring exception of Trump , they are mostly quite smart. The real problem is corruption. It is rightly said that an honest politician is one who stays bought.

Being smart doesn't negate DK. Its a follow on from the Peter Principle.

I don't think Trump exhibits DK. What he has is much worse:
He believes that Reality is what you can convince other people it is - it's entirely negotiable.
On some level, he thinks that if people stopped believing in Climate change, it would go away - just like the Mueller investigation.

If its "worse" then its still DK? I'm just having fun, quibbling, exhibiting my own DK. We all have a touch, from time to time....although i do "feel" the actually smart tendency of not thinking I'm smart enough................I DO wish I was smarter than I am. Who wouldn't wish that for themselves???? Ha, ha........someone with really bad DK.

One can dither all day long.

The difference is that Trump will ignore ANY evidence, supportive or otherwise, and only go for the catchphrase that will sell well.
DK sufferers at least assume they operate from facts, even when they don't, and can be educated if the psychological cost isn't too high.

For Trump, a fact is what he says a fact is- no other corroboration required or even desired.
The only question is whether he can make this "fact" stick in a sufficient number of people's minds.
He doesn't want people to seek support for his "facts" from other sources, because this means that people get their intel from other places that the horse's mouth or his parrots.

DK is about seeking intel, but overvalue corroborating evidence and discount contrary ones.
Trump doesn't do that at all.
