No One Really Believes Their Religion

Post by Wordbird » Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:22 am

Everyone is afraid of death.

Everyone sins, even though this is supposedly trashing the one lasting thing we have.

I'm reluctant to believe... in theists.

I said it. I don't believe in theists. I believe in theists about as much as I believe in the tooth fairy.

Even in the ridiculous event that god is real, I imagine he would want people to be atheists. If they really believed they were going to heaven, they would be no different than a dog sitting or shaking on command. Give treat, get desired trick. If there was a god and that was the extent of morality, that would be devastatingly disappointing.

Other than the occasional suicide bomber, I don't think anyone believes in god, gods, or an afterlife.

Ah, but Xtians only have to accept that and ask for forgiveness (like brushing yer teeth, every night). Problem solved.

(They also promise to do better, knowing full well that rarely happens. But lies are good - their good excuse master does love a sinner.)

I don't believe in them either. I still know they exist, though.

On a similar note, I used to think nobody's stupid enough to believe this thing or that thing or the other thing. But there's always someone stupid enough to believe in pretty much anything. If someone tried not believing in stupid people, it wouldn't matter -- they'd still exist.

But seriously, by and large people go with the religion that is acceptable to their social group. If they thought about it they wouldn't have any religion. That's what happened to me.

Belief can be as little as the decision not to question certain information.

I have read of some heinous sins. Not again gods, against humanity. One of those exists, the other does not.

I have. I think they're deeply entrenched in self-deception.

But there's that little, teeny-tiny logical mind still in there.

If there wasn't, these people could not function.

If they didn't have enough logic to know it's all lies, they would walk off cliffs and expect to fly.

On some level, they know.

The fear of death is natural, a result of millions of years of evolution. Not to fear death is unnatural, a result of insanity.

To add to my earlier post ... reported experiences after DMT injection:

Injection
In a study conducted from 1990 through 1995, University of New Mexico psychiatrist Rick Strassman found that some volunteers injected with high doses of DMT reported experiences with perceived alien entities. Usually, the reported entities were experienced as the inhabitants of a perceived independent reality that the subjects reported visiting while under the influence of DMT.[13] In a September 2009 interview, Strassman described the effects on participants in the study. He stated that "subjectively, the most interesting results were that high doses of DMT seemed to allow the consciousness of our volunteers to enter into non-corporeal, free-standing, independent realms of existence inhabited by beings of light who oftentimes were expecting the volunteers, and with whom the volunteers interacted. While 'typical' near-death and mystical states occurred, they were relatively rare."[47]
So-called NDEs also don't happen routinely...

comment on doc video---I've been a nurse for 25 years and have been around a lot of dying people, when she spoke about the spirits waiting for her soul to welcome her, that's no BS. We called it 'going back' in report, when a patient starts talking to people from their past that no one else can see, the spirits are already there waiting and death is close.

in doc video the doc said no to going back to earth(other of her videos)...was told yes you are going back...was told she had more tasks to complete ---one was to tell of her experience...she was also told her teen son would die....he did.....she also saw the affects of her actions on about 35 people removed from her...(domino effect)
