Randi thinks the forum is unnecessary baggage, so it's moving.

I only read the EULA there and felt that it would seem contentious to Randi's views or ways. I think that it is likely appropriate to separate the forum from the personalities since any legal means to set up such a site can also act to disrespect the personalities of them, even if unintentional.

I think that it is only going to get harder for the 'liberal' side of each of our personalities to be respected: How can you expect to speak freely if one, who speaks of 'limits of freedom' of those to speak 'freely' against them, as if they are the ones who must shut up? We all lose our ability to conserve our personalities once we freely share it with the world.

As such, it is tough for anyone to reference an open-inquiry/participatory forum with your own name up front.

I doubt that's why he cut it off from the rest of his site. Anyway, the new owner seems to have a more relaxed style.

I don't know. I'm just saying that he'd be wiser to do this by default. I'd recommend this about anyone who wants to even allow a forum under their name in which their internal views could be compromised by the nature to have to require funding by others. The EULA that I read before sounded intolerant of some views that deserve open discussion relating to a liberal skepticism. This can be due to a lot of reasons. But the main one would certainly relate to how James Randi would personally feel it would or could affect him in some way.

True, but the limits in place didn't seem to affect skepticism on the site, they just blocked a few topic. There are other places you can talk about them so the stifling wasn't there, just the preferences.

Don't know, haven't paid attention. Nothing I've wanted to discuss has been blocked, so I'm not concerned.

Just remembered one. Randi doesn't like "methods" being discussed in "Conjuror's Corner". Professional ethics.

I can't remember what it said before when I read it. Maybe the new agreements will be different. As to magic, it might appear to others that he is using magic to make others think that he's only using tricks when he really is a magical god?
