Gender?

Post by Alexander941 » Fri Mar 28, 2014 12:05 am

Question for the male readers: Lets say you meet an intelligent and amazingly beutiful woman, you both fall in love, and after a few months she wants to talk to you about a very impotant topic: her past.
Then she tells you that some years ago she was a man.

How would you react?

Question for the female readers: the same thing just the other way around.

I'd be interested but it certainly wouldn't make a difference to how I felt about her.

Wow. That's a real thought tickler of a question.

I wouldnt mention it, but I would feel very strange, and I think that would be understandable, right?

I mean why is it a problem to be grossed out by some things sexually?
For example Iam grossed out by the idea of anal-gay-sex, but I dont hate those guys, and I wouldnt bann that sort of thing, cause Iam also grossed out* by some forms of heterosexual intercourse, which doesnt make me ignore the Person behind that, I just wouldnt want to be part of that.

*and I know gay people which are terrified by a Vagina, no Problem with that.

Nothing weird in what you said. It's not a problem to be freaked out by some activities, and luckily, since it's usually a private matter between two individuals, you don't have to witness it! :P

Funny isnt it, many cultures have legends about pussies with teeth ;-)
You always hear strange stories about the "horror of penetration" but never those about the horror of getting your dick bitten of.

That Japanese Penis-Festival (Kanamara Matsuri) is built upon such a story.

All in all very interesting answers.
Do we have to redefine what it means to be male/female, or is that not that easy as it may look?
Can a man be a woman after surgery, is it enough to change bodily apperance, genitals etc. even if we would be able to completely rebuild a body with uterus and all, but leave the brain untoched?

Down here in Australia:

Third gender must be recognised by NSW after Norrie wins legal battle

The Australian high court has ruled that New South Wales must recognise a third gender after handing down its decision in the long-running case of Norrie, who has been fighting since 2010 to have a sex change recognised as non-specific.

Why stop at three genders. Surely we are broadminded enough to have more than three...four maybe five. And how about the genderless people. What kind of a washroom can they use?

I think People can see themself as what they want, and use the washroom they want (if no one objects for a good reason) but it gets stupid if you want some special things into your passport.

Sex and gender are two different things. Sex is determined by the genitalia, while gender exists in the brain. Gender dysphoria occurs when the two are not the same. When a person undergoes reconstructive surgery to rectify the incongruity, they are not becoming the new gender; they always were that gender. They are getting sex and gender to match up.

Heinlein called seven:

Ortho-male
Ortho-female.
Homo-male.
Homo-femal.
Ambi-male.
Ambi-female.
Neuter.

I think gender should be "what are you right now".

But is the idea of "female gender" a transexual man has the same idea a woman has?
Is it possible for a male brain to "emulate" (if I may put it so) the way a female brain works?

A lot of the differences between how males and females respond to stimuli is due to the differences in how boys and girls are socialized. Is there even such thing as a 'male brain' or a 'female brain'?

People who have made the transition through surgery are not distinguishable from people who made the transition while a fetus.
