Hey Zeuzzz...I see from the bitcoin forum that what you say is true.
How do the Deniers get so lucky?

Fish not biting, KennyC. Nice try, you liar.

Prove me otherwise. I dare you.

I openly linked to it for everyone to see here, just seems that some people here some kind of weird disorder, as of yet unofficially diagnosed or even known to them, which I will name egotistic selective blindness. Thanks for looking.

I've been a member of JREF for years under my own name. From memory, Pyrrho was once a moderator there under another name.

10 years ago I was a moderator as "Pyrrho" and was administrator there from February 2004 to May 2004, also as "Pyrrho." Had to resign when Hal Bidlack reinstated himself. Fun times.
There are buckets of new members. They keep coming. It's relentless there......

The deniers get thrown off JREF and turn up here with exactly the same bad arguments. The deniers get thrown off here and go to JREF with exactly the same bad arguments.

Well, that's certainly going to get give the conspiracy theorists some ammunition.

Hal Bidlack (born 1958) is a retired United States Air Force officer and national security aide..........He is also noted for his educational presentations in-character as Alexander Hamilton and advocacy of rational skepticism..........................Bidlack's hobbies are fitness and road cycling..

I'm now wondering about some secret 1980's cabal of people who ride bicycles who end up running public skeptic forums. CIA? NSA? Military Intelligence Corps? :D

"Forum Administrators, Division 6"

Basically there was a fork in the road. Hal took the forum one way and I went the other. Later Hal left and the Darat era began. Hilarity ensued.

In March 2005 I volunteered to play straw boss for this forum. More hilarity ensued.

Never got on with Darat. Not sure why but he always seemed to disagree with anything I said and took things way too seriously. Your jobs only as stressful as you make it I guess, he just seemed constantly like he was in a bad mood. Meh, I duno him well enough to really say that, so meh again.

I see, so I will have to use the "very slow interrogation method".

It may be next week, it may be in ten years, but one day you will be waiting at bus stop and a little old lady will sit down next to you and you will have a polite conversation. You will let slip some tiny inner secret of JREF. Suddenly the little old lady will pull off her latex mask and say "HA HA! It's me Matthew Ellard..".

As you have never actually seen me before, you will slowly get up and sit on another bench and wonder if there are local psychiatric hospitals missing a patient.

Well frankly, the moderator of this forum should be chosen by the person who has made the biggest contribution, as in post numbers. Therefore I should be moderator.

This week, I am issuing a edict as moderator, that no one is allowed to use the letter "Q" in their posts for a week or get banned immediately. Next week every member has to write on book report on "Moby Dick" or get banned immediately. The following week all posts must finish with a declaration of their sexual abstinence in the work place or get banned immediately.

I will be a fair though harsh moderator. I will offer Pyrrho the job as my side kick only if he changes his name and dresses appropriately from a chosen list set out below.

Well that makes sense, that there are a whole lot of people escaped from psychiatric hospitals, hanging at bus stops, saying they are Matthew Ellard. The blokes who think they are Napoleon are all still locked up.

Become a slight hobby of mine recently to spam JREFs social media platforms with my situation, using this blog entry that outlines why their reasoning for my banning with no previous suspension was absurd. I hope Randi wont come knocking at my door.

Actually, I hope he does. I want to test if that beard is real.

I didn't read this whole thread but I did check out the JREF sight to see if it was worthy of using. I checked out their conditional agreement and disagree with it. I like James Randi the person but it appears that they are rather too restricting on what you can or cannot say. As soon as I saw the warning to not use fowl language, I decided this wasn't something I'd care for. I don't often try not to use language that harms but to me, if anyone restricts words, it is a serious red flag anywhere. I agree that we have to try to curb abuses but believe that this naturally occurs independently if people try to understand one another and appeal to arguments.

I believe that it is hard to avoid becoming emotional for anyone at all times in our language. And it can be welcoming at times too. So if JREF is blocking you for any reason, zeuzzz, I wouldn't bother. I don't think its an actual reflection on your worth and you could be more effective going elsewhere. Here is good but it doesn't appear to be as active lately.

I was recommended by some to check out Reddit. I still only quickly looked at it but am not certain yet if it is good or not. It appeared to be popular but I don't know how serious others who go there are.

Reddit is just a massive testosterone storm ... I'm generalizing here, there is a 'subreddit' for just about everything. It's a form of media primarily based on memes and images, rather than intellectual discussion. Very funny, great community, but not the cyberspacial domain to invest all your time in.

Thanks for trying to sign up, too, Scott. In fact I'd appreciate you try to sign up and get back to me in this thread with what the result is, not a single person I've spoken to since I started this thread has been able to. Apart from Kenny *rolleyes*, who lied about his "new" account there, and could not provide evidence when I asked. It seems like JREF has become some sort of inbred insular community. But if you get in I might change that opinion.

I got that impression from looking at Reddit too. I think the ideas that you might be able to glean from that site are related to social popularity. I thought of the idea of this site before it existed as a means to propose ideas (Or as I was thinking, more of laws) and then have people vote for the most popular ones as a means of democratic accountability in law making. Obviously since we have an Internet, why not use it as a foundation in allowing people to directly be a part of government? It could be better than simply having representatives we must elect and then accept their whole collection of views for a duration that we cannot easily disable. I don't know if it would actually be functional or not. Reddit seemed to have figured out this idea (or 'stole' it from me, if they read my personal emails?) but they use it more generally. It's also hard to say if simply allowing laws be based on the masses is good if individuals don't have to be accountable to their views, including how they reason.

I already checked out the JREF site. I did notice from here (Canada) that the pages weren't loading very quickly even though I have very high speed Internet access. I opted out on the site because of the EULA/agreement conditions and the speed limiting to that site from here. They are getting so ubiquitous that we are losing the value of a free Internet. I already believe it is almost lost for good. One of the things that our governments here have done is to completely gut any oversight protection for our ISPs and since certain laws have now been able to effectively allow these and government agencies to govern what we see better, it seems just as likely that your provider and/or common agreements between governments/corporate laws may be limiting your access to the site too.

The internet and cyberspace in the next few decades is totally going to revolutionize the way we not only vote but how our very democracies and political structures/institutions function. It's far too early for me to say how exactly, but it will happen. And if they (Reddit) stole that idea from you, then I should have patented the idea when I also came up with it, totally independently from you both :p
