Pope declares 'zero tolerance' for sexual abuse in Catholic church

Post by Nobrot » Tue Jan 03, 2017 4:06 am

How very noble.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/ ... lic-church

A question for pope Frankie: Where is Cardinal Pell?

Edit:
"I would like us to renew our complete commitment to ensuring that these atrocities will no longer take place in our midst"

Clearly I'm unfamiliar with this sites hideously complicate formatting malarkey, but I'm following that guardian article like flies on a resurrected haddock.
Now cop for this:

"The church recognises the sins of some of her members: the sufferings, the experiences and the pain of minors who were abused sexually by priests. It is a sin that shames us,” Francis wrote in the letter.

Use the quotation button in the upper right corner of any post. Or use the fourth button from the left in the editor (copy paste text, or you can also simply write the brackets yourself. But quoting a handle needs to be like

It all springs from their anti-female position that is NOT supported by the Bible at all which springs from wanting to spend as little money as possible on the hired help.

Ummmm..... of course..... the Bible IS anti-female. Just not on the point the Catholics take that they can't be part of the controlling hierarchy.

Pros and Cons. Exclude women..... and you are going to get Homos. Its a fact: look it up.

Great question, Nobrot, about Cardinal Pell.

I'm more interested in Cardinal Law-unto-himself, who continues to get nice meals served to him in the Vatican, when he ought to be eating off a tin tray in a Massachusetts prison. But I don't blame the Pope. He probably can't legally kick the guy out. One of the anomalies of having a religion coterminus with a secular state is that one can have it both ways. On the one hand, we are a state and expect to be invited to diplomatic events and receive ambassadors. On the other hand, we are a religion, and you can't expect us to enter into degrading secular affairs such as extradition treaties.

Within what Garry Will calls the Vatican's structures of deceit, Pope Francis is doing his level best. They have come a long way, and will no longer seek to shield priests from the secular arm when they are accused of crimes. And at least they have now decided that capital punishment is unchristian. (When I was being instructed in the catechism, long, long ago, when the mass was still in Latin, that was one of the loopholes in the Fifth Commandment: the state had the right to kill criminals. I'm glad they've moved on. Not that this will bring me back, but we've all got to get along with one another in this world, and that helps.)

Nope, a typo. Should have been "coterminous" (as a lapsed Catholic, I just can't free myself of Latin spellings!)

Thanks for correcting the new word I learned. :)
Aye it's a rum do all right, this progressive new pope is harbouring two of the biggest bastards to ever walk the earth. Is this the same pope who performs exorcisms? Dragging the catholic church forward to the sixteenth century.

And welcome to the forums.

I'm sure this has been posted before but it's still a beaut.

Considering that today is the historic day when media have been reporting the prosecution of Gorge Pell in Australia, an issue of global interest, I think this topic needs to be revisited

Can a paedophile do a good job at designing a scheme to respond to a paedophilia or should it be torn down? Can a human mind maintain a very conflicting interests at the same time?

The plan stands or falls on its own merits. No ab hominem is appropriate.

You claim to be a social worker and ask such a question? Ha, ha....................every human mind DOES. Its the conflict between nature and Super Ego.

Every religious person starts out by being nuts. I would give them no special consideration. Its the edifice of the Catholic Church that should be torn down, aka: suffer the legal penalties for what they so obvious ARE doing. One huge pile of RICO going on.

I have already explained to you 'Bobo' (elsewhere) a difference between you (uneducated and unqualified person) and me (educated, practicing and qualified). To demonstrate your amateur guesses further...the Super Ego is a terminology derived from ancient psychotherapy that is NO LONGER used in modern behavioural sciences and neurosciences (for good 20 years).

If you keep believing in Ego, Super Ego, Sub-conscious, unconscious spaces etc. your are not different to Steve Klinko from 'The Inter mind' thread as none of those things actually exist and have been confirmed by any form of sciences, they are simply expressions used by practitioners in the era when we understood less then than we do today. My question referred to mechanisms of cognition and self-awareness as per 2019 vocabulary that you, clearly, have no idea about.

You really need to face the fact that you do not know and understand much for a person who has SO MUCH to say.

Let me put it this way: When someone is intellectually incompetent, they cannot even grasp what they do not know... and that is the very experience I am having with you, hence I cannot be bothered wasting my time as I doubt you will ever get it. You are just not a caliber of a person I wish to be conversing with and you clearly have difficulties accepting it as I keep getting notifications from you. Time to let go.

Take care.

All ad hominem as if you have no substantive response? And I referenced Super Ego as you mentioned Freud in an earlier response. Just trying to find your own comfort level. Evidently, you just want to be agreed with? heh, heh........make that all Super Ego. Really Mara: give it a go. Repsond on point rather than by ego?
