Why is academia and public schools vehemently left wing?

Post by rikku » Mon Apr 04, 2011 1:06 am

This is undeniable. Ideas that go against the Leftist dogmas (such as the hereditarian viewpoints concerning race and IQ or behavior) are not permitted to be discussed openly. Instructors will punish students gradewise who go against the grain and those with unpopular views will be denied admission/promotions. So how did this come to be and what can be done about it?

Eh?

I had plenty of classes where we discussed those ideas.

What examples do you have where those ideas were not permitted in discussion?

"Undeniable?" It's so deniable, I yawned.

"Hereditarian viewpoints concerning race and IQ or behavior" (whatever that means) are either scientific thingamies, or they're not. If they are, then they should be taught.

If the right-wing loonies decide to disbelieve in scientific findings, then it's their own fault that they're distancing themselves from reality. It doesn't become "left-wing" simply because the right divorces itself from something.

My boy pledges his allegiance to our flag everyday. Now that's some right-wing BS right there. But it's harmless so I don't mind.

Agreed I discussed these topics plenty through out school. You sure you didn't go to a private Christian school?

This is undeniable.

Well actually it is deniable, and I do deny it. You have merely expressed an opinion apparently based on your own political perspective rather than evidence..

Generally, public schools everywhere reflect the dominant power paradigm. In Australia, the UK and the US.that is right/centre right.

Never in my lifetime have public schools been hot beds of left wing/socialist thought, although that's true enough of most Australian universities in the late 1960s. (but not today;they've become really boring) Up to the early1950's most Catholic (private) schools taught some 'left wing ideas' , based mainly on some of the more subversive parts of the Gospels. ;)

I regard public education as a system of concentration camps where children are terrorized, bullied and bludgeoned into diminished consciousness until they are trained and brainwashed into being wage-slaves who passively accept living in a society which is tyrannized by a fascistic, right-wing oligarchy of the rich and powerful.

Either that, or they are places which keep children off the street, off the job market, and out of their parents' hair. · · · :wgrin:

Is this meant to be one of the new tactics of the Christian Cult of Ignorance? Label anything that isn't demonstrably false as 'Leftist dogma' and then bit by bit try to keep actual knowledge out of the public school system by arguing that it is 'politically charged' and that teachers who say such things are inappropriately abusing their authoritative capacity over the children by promoting a 'political agenda'?

No, you confused hairball, no.

I am saying that you should educate yourself---you'll do a much better job of it than the schools will.

Make sure that you get straight A's on your tests---that should be no problem for a person of moderate intelligence. I certainly had no problem doing it.

Understand clearly that you are in a concentration camp. Learn the strategies for survival in such a situation.

Study some judo and basic psychology. It will keep you from being bullied.

Very consciously---MAKE ALLIES !! That is something which most of the borderline autistic-types on this forum never had the brains to do.

As a corollary to this, establish good relations with your teachers and advisors. GO SEE THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS---TALK TO THEM---but don't make a pest of yourself. Take an interest in their work. If you have any brains or luck, you will find people who can help you immeasurably in your studies and in your future career.

Most importan t: BE MORE INTERESTED IN OTHER THINGS AND PEOPLE THAN IN YOURSELF !!

How does any of this offer support for your claim that school is:

Well, hypothetical statements are the bread-and-butter of this esteemed forum.
