Go Solar: combine Regulation and Free Market: "Get her Done!"

Post by bobbo_the_Pragmatist » Fri Nov 04, 2016 12:17 am

"“The Germans are ahead not because they have better sun, but because they set up a policy framework in which everybody can invest in renewables and come out ahead,” said ILSR’s John Farrell, one of the principal architects of the groundbreaking, just-passed Minnesota solar standard. “It was not tilted toward people who have tax liability or upfront capital. It made it easy to become a renewable energy investor, democratized ownership, and created strong and resilient political support for renewables.”

I pulled the above quote from a quick google search but the issue came up in presentation by Thom Hartman reading from his book "The Crash of 2016" in which he reviewed how Germany implemented their Solar energy program. In short: Germany needed more electrical power and were planning to build two Nuke Plants. So..the gubment taking a stand against Nukes (I think from Fukushima although that was not mentioned) said No. We are going to invest in the future in the main by:

1. Power companies MUST buy solar from anyone at a rate equal to what their cost would be from new Nuke plants. That provided a very high rate to anyone selling solar power.

2. Then they required or incentivized banks to offer low interest rate loans to people who wanted to buy and install solar panels.

Result: installation of solar has been dramatic exceeding the expected/hoped for generation of solar power and that continues today.

And here in the GOUSA....we still have NO ENERGY POLICY. Not even when Germany exists to show us the way. What we are is corrupt to the core. Killing our future rather than making common sense market oriented rational regulatory moves to benefit everyone except those who would monopolize a required service would they be given the "free market" means to do so.

..........Then Thom went on to describe how Media/News has been monopolized to the injury of all in the same way.

..........Then he mentioned how the same thing is now happening with drug prices and availability.

America: a nation of suckers...... half of them supporting the science denying Republican Party in favor of guns, faith, and the quick lie. Disgusting on every level.
Real Name: bobbo the contrarian existential pragmatic evangelical anti-theist and Class Warrior.
Asking: What is the most good for the most people?
Sample Issue: Should the Feds provide all babies with free diapers?

,,,and the other half supporting big-government elitists that want everyone to be dependent on government. But, you're right: a nation of suckers.
People who say ALWAYS and NEVER are usually wrong, part of the time.
Science answers questions, Philosophy questions answers.
Make sense, not war.

Heres a thought: when you are the second poster: no need to copy and paste the entire OP when your comment really does not even engage it................... try it.

",,,and the other half supporting big-government elitists that want everyone to be dependent on government."==Meaningless drivel of the knee jerk talking point.

PAULIE: I CHALLENGE YOU TO PROVE ME WRONG: apply your bumpersticker non-think to the subject at hand. Is it a smooth move that Germany has supported going solar they way they have or is it a governmental dependency program: you know...one doing no harm to anyone that shouldn't be stoned to death and providing the maximal good to all including future generations.

Just how stupid and self destructive can you retarded Republicans be?
