It was passed off as an arrival at Treblinka. AFAIK there are no pictures of a train being unloaded at Treblinka so I became suspicious. I checked it against tineye and sure enough it was mis-captioned. It is a picture of Jews being prepped for transport out of the Warsaw.

The poster told me they found it cropped and captioned as an arrival. I showed them the uncropped version and provided them a link for tineye.
You can also tell by the residential buildings right behind the train that this is a train station in a city. Treblinka was way out in the country.

It is claimed to be a picture of Jews waiting to be deported to Treblinka. I checked tineye and found a list of photos here:

https://allthatsinteresting.com/jewish- ... -photos#27

This photo appears genuine. I glanced through some of pictures listed. Some I’ve seen, some I haven’t. It was interesting and sad at the same time.

That is the Umschlagplatz in Warsaw, I am 98% sure. I seem to recall the lamppole, also the walls especially the one to the right (will check in Engelking & Leociak later). The plaza there looks ramshackle, could be during the 1943 roundups rather than the Great Deportation in 1942. Ask E. Hunt, he will know :)

I’ll have to find him on whatever whacked out conspiracy theory website he’s grinding on now.
:D

That’s how it was captioned, 1943. The site where I found it had a lot of pictures.

I was arsed to go downstairs to the Hackenholt Memorial Library and peek into Engelking & Leociak. It is without doubt the Umschlagplatz. I think 1943 is a good guess, as the photos in Engelking & Leociak from 1942 don't look as dilapidated. Engelking & Leociak don't use that photo and don't have any images of the Umschlagplatz in 1943.

If you confirm it, let me know. All sorts of pictures like that pop up in my Facebook feed. I already fixed one fake for one of the posters there. But I thought this was legit, I’ve just never seen it before.

It's on the wikipedia entry for Umschlagplatz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umschlagplatz

I also found this website with a different photo that is clearly of the same area: http://warszawa.wyborcza.pl/warszawa/56 ... z,,13.html
