Copy pasta Trump rallies then?
"We are still waiting for anyone to rebut the main theme of the article that the decode in question and the numbers it quoted perfectly match those in the Korherr report.

Until such a rebuttal comes to light and goes through peer review the article stands the test of time. And after 10 years since the article was published both Peter (Witte) and I have moved on to other research projects. "

At least its not compulsory to read his stream of consciousness tweets,
I wish that reporters wouldn't read each of those tweets, decide a story it makes, write said story up, and include the tweet in the resulting piece. Like every day, a couple times a day. That would be a step forward.

“The benefit of controlling a modern state is less the power to persecute the innocent, more the power to protect the guilty.”
Fixed it. This is not new. It has been the situation ever since states were invented. The payoff for protecting the guilty is that they are your supporters, sharing in your looting of the populace.

Democracy can only mitigate, it cannot stop the looting.

It is very odd. Aftonbladet's wrap-up report on the speech says that Trump vowed to find Clinton's emails.* I guess the same old tunes that worked on his crowd in '16 still get them dancing today.

I will say this: They are very interested in Obama's visit to Stockholm, and the other top story in Aftonbladet is headlined "Bilden på Greta och Obama har blivit viral ▸ ✓ Hundratusentals har gillat ✓ Obama: Yes, we can, Greta" The image of Greta and Obama has gone viral - 100s of 1000s have liked it - Obama: Yes, we can, Greta

-----

This is the best I can do with all that: He also brought up his earlier opponent Hillary Clinton's erased emails and said that "we will find them somewhere deep in the State Department" before he joked:

"If I removed an email, like a love message from Melania, then it would have ended in the electric chair for Trump."

Heck, maybe, but Manafort didn't even have to report to Riker's Island . . .

Hillary Clinton's {!#%@} emails? Seriously? For his 2020 campaign? . . . what does he not want people to be thinking about?

PS - WaPo's report on the rally is pretty much like Aftonbladet's - and he did do the Clinton email routine, for real.

UN special rapporteur's analysis of the murder of Khashoggi:
It is the conclusion of the special rapporteur that Mr Khashoggi has been the victim of a deliberate, premeditated execution, an extrajudicial killing for which the state of Saudi Arabia is responsible under international human rights law.
The rapporteur also found credible evidence, in the words of The Guardian, "warranting further investigation, of high-level Saudi officials’ individual liability, including the crown prince’s," that is, Jared's bff.

The Guardian on the rally of the pitchfork and torchlight crowd in Orlando last night: Trump sets stage for 2020 fight with false claims and recycled attacks: President kicked off his bid with lies, attacks on the press and claims a Democrat president would ‘shut down your free speech’:
Trump spent little effort offering a vision of the future. He and his supporters were most energised by his greatest hits: grievance politics, demonising opponents, raging against perceives injustices. There was even a reprise of attacks on Hillary Clinton, his defeated rival in 2016, complete with furious chants of “Lock her up!”

His vicious, often fabricated, attacks implied that while a referendum on his record would likely end in defeat, his campaign believes that whipping up fear of a Democrat in the White House could yet save his skin.
Even in The Hill, the rally coverage was basically critical and hit many of the same themes as The Guardian - Trump's "enemies" approach, demonization of the Democrats as socialist and extremist, paltry positive agenda for 2nd term, and Mueller, Mueller, Mueller.

To juice the US economy, a la Nixon 1972 (anyone as old as I will recall how well that worked out in '74-'76), Trump is again considering canning or demoting his Fed chief appointee Jerome Powell. After complaining in '15 and '16 that Yellen's Fed kept interest rates too low, Trump has become obsessed with having lower rates during his own presidency, presumably to offset the negative impact on growth that his trade wars have caused - and also to deal with what appears to be a slowdown in the economy before we enter election season. WaPo has coverage of this.

Biden - to prove the benefits of civility, bipartisanship and bringing everyone together - last night touted his ability to get along with two arch-segregationists, Republicans James Eastland and Herman Talmadge; I for one have warm fuzzy feelings that Joe Biden got positive vibes when accommodating odious racists and putting personal comfort ahead of the political work that goes with being a Senator.

OTOH I am happy to report that I don't get along with Nazis, the "white genocide" crowd, and HDers.

We’re all desperately hoping that it doesn’t get to the second term. That’s almost too horrible to contemplate.

The reality is even Trump’s pets on the Supreme Court wouldn’t permit this kind of thing. So if Trump gets a second term......
Sorry......I feel sick, give me just a second.....
OK, better now. It would require a Constitutional Amendment to get him a third term.
Here:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty- ... nstitution

While we’ve had douchebags as presidents before most had some semblance of sanity and understanding over the rule of law. Trump has neither so it would require his forcible ejection from office. I suspect the Secret Service would do the honor as they have they have the obligation to protect current and past presidents from outside harm and themselves.

Who knows what he's getting at with this crap - probably just more ritual self-praise, a plea for admiration and acclaim, and a way to trigger the libs? If he were seriously to assay such a thing, indeed, it would be unconstitutional - in the wake of FDR's norm-battering 4 terms, the 22nd Amendment was passed (late '40s or early '50s?) to limit a president to 2 terms.

So to make a 3rd term constitutional would require repeal of the 22nd Amendment - and that would require some heavy lifting - 2/3 majorities in House and Senate (the votes aren't there for Mr Trump) and then approval by legislatures in 38 states (Trump carried 30 IIRC) (or, very dangerous and also a long shot - calling a new constitutional convention, which many on the far right favor - and then Katy bar the door).

A coup, as some of his supporters threatened during the '16 campaign, might work. But, really, the worst existential threat ever to humanity - Hillary Clinton - has been neutralized, so would enough people sign up? :)

Instead of asking: what will win the White House for the Democrats,
what we really should be asking is: what will win the Senate?

American voters have this knee-jerk instinct to vote against the incumbent party in the Midterms, no matter what. Ousting Trump might cost the Democrats both the House and the Senate.

I think the Dems need to run 2020 as if it was a Midterm, not a Presidential Election, and convince people that what they vote for on the State and local level is at least as important as the Presidency.

I think the Dems need to run 2020 as if it was a Midterm, not a Presidential Election, and convince people that what they vote for on the State and local level is at least as important as the Presidency.
Completely agree on the Senate. It seems like the Democrats are neglecting this. Or maybe the better things to say is that the best candidates aren’t running for the Senate.

It looks like IMO that Democrats are crowding the field for president thinking that Trump won’t get a second term. This is shockingly short sided and incredibly stupid to underestimate Trump yet again.

My hope is that the Democratic field gets sorted out by the time to file deadline comes up.

As for the House I think the Democratic majority is relatively safe.
Question for Groening by a reporter:
“Mr. Groening, what do you say to those who still deny the Holocaust?”

Groening:
“Nothing. They are hopelessly lost.”

Harvard Crimson (on why it refused to run an add by Bradley Smith):
“(It is) vicious propaganda based on utter BS that has been discredited time and time again.”
