Whats the benefit of repatriating ISIS supporters only to put them in jail for how long and her kiddies into foster care? Doesn't make good common sense. Shoot her on sight...................more civilized: Drone her.

Illinois has gone communist. The red governor, JB Pritzker, (((heir) to Pritzker family fortune and a hedge fund tycoon in his own right, has signed into law a measure to gradually raise the minimum wage to $15 hour. This makes Illinois the first fully communist state, by 2025, in the US, and gender-neutral bathrooms, another part of the takeover, are already prevalent here. Many businesses display the "Hate has no home here" or rainbow sign, and Spanish is widely spoken by the red dupes in my neighborhood. This, after radical mobs chased Dear Leader from the red mecca, Chicago, in 2016.

How? Everything you list is not thought of as being communist nor of being programs promoted in Russia? Where have you read that the Marxist Revolution ends with unisex bathrooms? And being studious about it.....I don't know that it doesn't. So.........you're going for the theoretical communism that isn't practiced anywhere in the World?

LOL.

Kamala Harris got off, commentators agree, to a great start with her campaign. She raised a whopping $1.5 million in just 24 hours after her announcement.

Bernie Sanders raised $4 million in just 12 hours after declaring his candidacy (I've now gotten about a half dozen fund-raising emails from his campaign). It's reported that 150,000 individuals have made contributions already.

interesting point in that article:
Hall said that generally, farmers like Trump, in part because he attempted to abolish the 2015 Waters of the United States Rule, which "sought to define rivers, streams, lakes and marshes that fall under the control of the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers."

“Trump rolled back regulations, particularly that rule, and farmers are grateful,” Hall said. “A lot of the goodwill farmers have for him is tied to that. . . .”

Bernie should play King/Queen-maker, not try to become numero uno himself - he IS too old. He should ask for an important Department and cover the left-wing, socialist part of the voter segment, but allow a much younger team with a higher than 50% content to X chromosomes to do the actually running.

Christian Amanpour had a section on the ISIS Babe. Consensus was she had rights as a British citizen so she should be allowed to come back and serve as much time in jail as needed until she was no longer a threat to society. Near the end of the show, it was announced the ISIS babe had her British citizenship revoked. I guess that means she is on her own with "no right of return."

All her own free choice.

If she is to be repatriated, she must stand trial. Period. Canada is making the horrible mistake of giving it's ISIS fighters under-the-table amnesty (I always thought that Troodough's naive Orientalism makes him an unwitting fellow-traveler to Salafists) - Britain would be foolish to make such a mistake. If such an arrangement is unable to be obtained, then she must be left to her fate, be it at the hands of the SDF or other western proxies.
I'm also thinking along those lines. As I recall, when the allies beat the Taliban back in 2001, they found among them a young American who had decided to kill Americans. But (again, this is from memory), he seems to have had well-to-do parents who bought him out of the consequences of the crimes they should have prevented him from committing.

This British woman revolts me. Just last week, she was expressing no remorse at what she did, and now she wants to play for sympathy. Why would anyone believe anything she says? She joined a criminal organization, and there should be consequences for that. Keeping the camp for the fighters is very clearly aiding and abetting all their crimes, but she's now trying to claim otherwise.

Interesting to see the targets this piece lists: "‘Sustained and ongoing’ disinformation assault targets Dem presidential candidates: A coordinated barrage of social media attacks suggests the involvement of foreign state actors."

The principal targets are said to be Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O'Rourke, and Bernie Sanders:
A POLITICO review of recent data extracted from Twitter and from other platforms, as well as interviews with data scientists and digital campaign strategists, suggests that the goal of the coordinated barrage appears to be undermining the nascent candidacies through the dissemination of memes, hashtags, misinformation, and distortions of their positions. But the divisive nature of many of the posts also hint at a broader effort to sow discord and chaos within the Democratic presidential primary.
To the former point, Trump continues to use juvenile racial taunting against Warren and has belittled O'Rourke with lies about his El Paso rally; to the latter point, Trump has recently made a clear effort to boost Sanders, I suppose hoping for a replay of '16.

Continuing, in a Trumpian vein:
Recent posts that have received widespread dissemination include racially inflammatory memes and messaging involving Harris, O’Rourke and Warren. In Warren’s case, a false narrative surfaced alleging that a blackface doll appeared on a kitchen cabinet in the background of the senator’s New Year’s Eve Instagram livestream.
Oh please, not this {!#%@} again . . .

Now for the tech analysis:
. . . there are clear signs of a coordinated effort of undetermined size that shares similar characteristics with the computational propaganda attacks launched by online trolls at Russia’s Internet Research Agency in the 2016 presidential election, which special counsel Robert Mueller accused of aiming to undermine the political process and elevate Donald Trump. . . . Using proprietary tools that measured the discussion surrounding the candidates in the Democratic field, Guardians.ai identified a cohort of roughly 200 accounts — which includes both unwitting real accounts and other ‘suspicious’ and automated accounts that coordinate to spread their messages — pumped out negative or extreme themes designed to damage the candidates.

This is the same core group of accounts the company first identified last year in a study as anchoring a wide scale influence campaign in the 2018 elections.

Since the turn of the year, those accounts began specifically directing their output at Harris, O’Rourke, Sanders and Warren, and were amplified by an even wider grouping of accounts. Over a recent 30-day period, between 2 and 15 percent of all Twitter mentions of the four candidates emanated in some way from within that cluster of accounts, according to the Guardians.ai findings. In that timeframe, all four candidates collectively had 6.8 million mentions on Twitter.

“We can conclusively state that a large group of suspicious accounts that were active in one of the largest influence operations of the 2018 cycle is now engaged in sustained and ongoing activity for the 2020 cycle,” Horvath said.
Brett Horvath, a founder of a company specializing in assessment of cyber warfare and cyber threats. In sheer volume, Harris has gotten the most such negative "attention," much of the traffic "racially-charged."

Horvath:
“Moderates and centrists and Democratic candidates still don’t understand what happened in 2016 and they didn’t realize, like Hillary Clinton, that she wasn’t just running a presidential campaign, she was involved in a global information war,” Horvath said. “Democratic candidates and presidential candidates in the center and on the right who don’t understand that aren’t just going to have a difficult campaign, they’re going to allow their campaign to be an unwitting amplifier of someone else’s attempts to further divide Americans.”

:hmm: That be why the Republican Trump is gutting DHS's cyber warriors.
“The clear assessment from the intelligence community is that 2020 is going to be the perfect storm,” said a DHS official familiar with the teams. “We know Russia is going to be engaged. Other state actors have seen the success of Russia and realize the value of disinformation operations. So it’s very curious why the task forces were demoted in the bureaucracy and the leadership has not committed resources to prepare for the 2020 election.”

...

...these changes appear to reflect the White House’s lack of interest in beefing up election security...“The failure of the White House to take this seriously is perhaps its single most significant dereliction of duty.”...

Individual-1 needs to work on his nickname for Sanders (Crazy Bernie); it's low energy and doesn't work well.

Speaking of Sanders, his final "first 24 hours" haul amounted to $6m, 4x that of previous leader Kamala Harris. As Gord pointed out, the average donation to Sanders' campaign was just under $27 (his average donation in 2016): what this means is that Sanders can tap these same donors over and over before they max out on permissible contributions. Also, Sanders has gotten $600,000 recurring monthly commitments already.

I count Sanders out, maybe from preference, but those are some impressive numbers . . .

This thing is going to be a wild ride and very difficult to game out. So I'll just ask Jeff_36 who will garner the nomination and roll up 450 electoral votes in the election - that's easier than following the damned thing. I am pretty sure that Jeff_36 called, for example, Sanders' massive cash intake . . .

To coordinate CNN's political coverage of the 2016 campaigns the network has hired Republican party operative (right-wing hack), and former Sessions' spox, Sarah Isgur Flores.

Isgur has no journalism experience, but she has worked with TX rep John Culberson (scored one of the most conservative members of Congress by both liberal and conservative rating groups), Ted Cruz's 2010 Texas AG campaign, the RNC, Fiorina's super pac, and Jeff Sessions. Originally a critic of Trump from the right, Flores became a Trumper known to tweet about CNN that it is Clinton News Network.

CNN seems to be on Jeff_36's quixotic search to find a middle ground in the midst of all this crap. Instead of naming names and telling it like it is.

I’ve always taken the “wait and see” attitude towards Mueller. It comes down to what can be proven, there may be something or maybe nothing.

It would be nice to see individual-1 hauled out in tiny cuffs that may not be the immediate result. What I am interested in is the results of the on-going investigations that Mueller turns over. He may find no collusion dealing with individual-1 but individual-1’s shady business practices may land him in hot water.

Same here. I mean, I like the outrage of the week as much as the next person LOL but in reality I think that getting out over one's skis on such things isn't too wise. Or correct. But I also demur a bit on the whole Putin's Puppet thing, too. I think that the real reasons Trump got elected have most to do with the Long March of the GOP right, the breakdown of American society, changes in civil discourse under various pressures, Obama backlash, and the American Id finally finding conditions in which to burst forth.

Now, if he doesn't turn up grifting, mob ties, thieving and cheating, what was the whole point? But those things were known before the campaign and the media failed to leverage and use perfectly good, available reporting on those matters. So shame on us.

There might be a sealed indictment waiting around somewhere. Most keep repeating that the DoJ rule/policy is that 'a sitting Prez can't be indicted', yet others claim it actually says they shouldn't be dragged through a trial. But none of that "too busy and important a guy" thing applies to this one, either...

The so-called American Taliban - John Walker Lindh AKA John Walker - after a number of interrogations and imprisonments following his capture was brought back to the US and tried under US laws. My recollection is that, concerned that the man's confession was tainted, the US made a plea bargain and "the American Taliban" was sentenced to a long prison term.

That's probably the right course - not, sigh, torturing suspects like John Walker Lindh but trying them under the laws of their home country. Ditto for loss of citizenship.

So happy that the Portland cops are coordinating with WN/the far right against assorted left-wing protest groups: ‘I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on earth’: A self-proclaimed white nationalist planned a mass terrorist attack, the government says

That gives me warm fuzzies, knowing he will be out. :)
Especially since he says he never renounced the use of terroristic violence.... I seem to recall he applied for and was granted Irish citizenship....

...What I am interested in is the results of the on-going investigations that Mueller turns over. He may find no collusion dealing with individual-1 but individual-1’s shady business practices may land him in hot water.

Best review I've heard of Faux for some time: "You're a millionaire funded by billionaires."

..........aka: We are NOT engaged in class warfare...............BECAUSE...........it has already been fought and won by the AlreadyTooRich. Just watch for who says: "We can't afford Healthcare for All."

Bernie should play King/Queen-maker, not try to become numero uno himself - he IS too old. He should ask for an important Department and cover the left-wing, socialist part of the voter segment, but allow a much younger team with a higher than 50% content to X chromosomes to do the actually running.
Yup. And, since he is not following this sage advice, especially given the current field, Sanders needs to communicate to his supporters that it is not do-or-die when it comes to winning the nomination. He must not allow the perception that the party is doomed if he doesn't get the nod.

KAC previews the Republican message for 2020 in a CNN interview, when she is asked whether Mueller's report will be released, explaining (incongruously) that the problem is the Democrats:
CONWAY: The American people want their elected officials to focus on issues and my boss is.

CUOMO: No, they want that report, Kellyanne.

CONWAY: And let's see if the Democratically-controlled Congress starts to ... No.

CUOMO: Yes --

CONWAY: Here's what I see, the Democratically-controlled Congress. You have (House Intelligence Chairman) Adam Schiff saying, 'we're just going to continue to investigation.' You have Tom Steyer pressuring (House Judiciary Chairman) Jerry Nadler --

CUOMO: No. The Mueller probe, forget about the politicians for a second. The Mueller probe (has) to put a report and we should all get it.

CONWAY: You have the anti-Semitic woman from Minnesota, you have the socialist --
The Democratically controlled Congress (news to Mitch M)?!?!? Tom Steyer (whose impeachment campaign Pelosi disavows)?!?? The anti-Semitic woman from Minnesota (who met with Jewish groups last week to apologize unequivocally)?!?!?!! The socialist . . . (OAC perhaps . . . )?!?!!? So, you see, the Mueller report might have to be suppressed . . . ?!?!?!?

Distract and demonize to go for the win . . . this is going to be every bit as ugly as 2016, and, no, pace Cizilla and Jeff_36's predictions, the cause of the ugliness will not be "hard leftists" in the Democratic party . . .
