unemployment stats are an example of how statistics are the worse kind of lie .

the stats do not include the millions of people who are not thinking about getting a job .
And that is always remembered by presidential candidates when they are running for office against the incumbent, and immediately forgotten by them as soon as they reach office. Recall how Trump claimed a "true" unemployment rate of 40% back in 2016, saying the Bureau of Labor Statistics was making up the numbers that showed it to be only about 5%. Once he got into office and the rate continued to go down, he said no more about any forged numbers; he just took credit for the amazing result.
“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.”

― Frédéric Bastiat (1801–1850), French economist

Amusing. We have both declared we have so much to say, and then we both vacate the field.

How far might both of us go up the blow hard scale.........if we stood on each others shoulders?

I'm open/up for just about anything. I LIKE "ideas." Not so much into tea parties.

Yea, verily.

Let's say, one of us would be standing on the shoulders of a giant. Then we could argue about who was where.
Would we ever figure out we were at the wrong pole????

Truthfully, I'm not all that interested in Thoreau, but I've read just about everything he ever wrote, except his journal, which is stupefying.
Yep. Poetry can catch a phrase, craft a metaphor, and create an allusion, but it sucks all at being analytical.

This is said so often it has become a verity. Sad because its WRONG. STATS DON'T LIE. People are just too stupid/lazy to read/understand WHAT THE STAT IS.

Just LOOK!!! What STAT are you using, or what STAT is being used on you?

Silly Hoomans.
