I wouldn't equate the health of the solar system with the status of fleas on one of the smaller bit of flotsam.

It's a robot. It's going for reinforcements.

Somewhere in a galaxy, far far away - in a place labeled Area 52... a conspiracy is born.

And after all those years of travel, Voyager is still only the tiniest of fractions of the distance to the nearest other star. 16 light hours, or just over 0.0005 of the distance.

It's only moving at something like 0.0005 c, the slacker.

Yeah, NASA was hoping it would hit 0.0005 b this semester.

I want to know when it get's rebuilt by aliens and returns as "V'ger."

Actually, that was a stupid Star Trek plot. Any alien race intelligent enough to repair it, would have known it would wreak havoc if it returned in such a SUBARed condition (Suped Up Beyond All Recognition).

That was Voyager 8, IIRC.

And the Machine Civilization didn't soup it up, they brought it home. Cold, rigid logic ruled there.

I may be confused, but I think the movie borrowed the V'ger concept from the original Star Trek series episode called The Changeling.
