Just One Drop movie

Post by Monster » Mon Feb 26, 2018 7:57 pm

New exciting movie!

A new movie about homeopathy is out now. Sadly, an acquaintance of mine is interested in this movie. Oh well.

I watched the trailer and it's basically a bunch of well-meaning loonies saying that homeopathy works and defending it against scientists.

Main site for the film:

Listening twice as much as you speak is a sign of wisdom.

My background is in psych / social work and I cannot stand the claims like this one ‘if homeopathy really is just a placebo then why so many people choose to use it’ - because people lack self-awareness, people have no understanding of how fundamentally gullible and subjective we as humans are. Just because many people do something it doesn’t mean anything more than many people doing something. In fact, collective behavior is often even worse than individual as it drives the false belive system, it’s a simple group bias.

Step one: understand yourself
Step two: once you understood yourself then you can see through own bs

In Africa, witch doctors have danced around sick people shaking bones for more than 10,000 years. OBVIOUSLY, it must work.

Appeal to tradition. Should I add undue authority to that also?

In fact, I’d say that if most people are confident about something, and that something sounds rather too easy to be true, offers them sense of empowerment and fulfillment (as humans are addicted to these) it’s almost certain is bullsh*t.

There used to be this term in sociology... ‘norm crystallisation’ that could start with something as vague as Chinese whispers.
