Enlightened civilians

Post by Lance Kennedy » Mon Oct 01, 2018 1:05 am

Reference, New Scientist, 22 September 2018, page 6

A recent survey of British civilians, ordinary people, showed a degree of rationality that appears to be missing in politicians.

Some results.
1. On genetic engineering. 53% support. Only16% oppose.
2. Artificial intelligence. 30% support. 24% oppose.
3. On cancer. Over 70% positive about new treatments.
4. On climate change. 67% accept the position of climate scientists, that it is real and human generated.

The overall indication is that ordinary people do appreciate good science, and are not totally ignorant on scientific issues. How about politicians and people from other nations ?

People aren't as dumb as the filth they elect, mainly because they don't really have much of a choice.

Politicans, by and large, aren't irrational. They just have vastly different incentive structures.
