I was in the US last week - a land of god, trump, humongous bodies, and {!#%@} - happy to be back to a semi-sane environment. Passed thru very heavy storms with lots-o rain and floods.

They're passed around a lot, so maybe fifty people.

Did I write it too well?

We've got the same joke about a local football club. What's black and white, has 40 legs and one tooth? The Collingwood cheer squad.

It was too dangerous to be there on the ground for too long... so I sorta furtively slunk betwixt the buildings, the trees, and the corn fields - all the while trying to not look so suspicious and not get shot at. So I was in, and then out again as fast as I could do it. I did have a good time visiting with some old friends and seeing some long forgotten images and then I beat my way back across the pond as fast as that magic carpet would carry me.

OMG they're all idiots!!

I just called three different people (y'know, on the telephone? they way one does?) and they all screwed up the calls! Each of them tried to answer, but HUNG UP INSTEAD!

First, my nephew tried to answer his cell phone, but accidentally hung up. The call went, "ring, ring, r-click!" I said, "Hello? Hello?" Then I hung, and waited for him to call me back.

Next, I phoned my parents. My father answered, dropped the phone, picked it up, and decided there was no one on the line and hung up. I call back and got the answering machine. Then I hung up and waited for him to call me back. This call when, "ring, ring, ring, ring, hello?" *click*. I said, "Hello? Hello?? Come on! What the hell?" Then he went, *click* "There's no one there," *click*.

And finally, I phoned my friend. He tried to answer, but instead cancelled the call completely. This one went, "ring, ring, *click*, beeeeeep, beeeeeep, beeeeeep...." So again, I hung up and waited for him to call me back.

So yeah, I manage to talk to all three of them, but only because they returned my calls.

THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS! :shakefist:

Are telephones really that hard to use these day? I'm using a rotary dial here, and I'm not having these problems.

If it ain't broke, don't break it. Obviously my phone works and nobody else's does! (That's the obvious conclusion from my extensive survey of three phone calls in a row!)

I hate to be the bearer of news. A paper round pays {!#%@}, and I just chuck it straight in the recycle, anyway.

But maybe it wasn't quite the most convenient time for them to answer your call?

That's why we don't have many lions left in Northern Ontario.

There's something going on here.

I'm a bachelor on some dating sites. I'm a smart, good looking gentleman (if I don't mind saying myself). When I was 45 I was getting all the ladies. I was in the top 100 in the country.

As soon as I turned 46, nothing. One date. Well, two dates. And they just wanted free food.

I guess 46 is over the hill cliff.

We had a good shake last evening – 10 seconds or so of lateral jerking at a 4 or so. One of the stronger ones I have experienced. Nothing broken, so just a memory now.
