RIP Art Bell
RIP Art Bell
Back in the mid 90s, I used to drive from west Texas to South Carolina at night and while I didn't believe what I was listening to, this was good, compelling radio. It was spooky. Perfect for driving down unknown places in strange parts. This stuff kept me from running off the road many a time. He became my traveling companion and that friend you have that is a little bit batshit kooky but good-natured who can talk about and listen to any subject with the same genuine interest.

How can it be compelling if not believed? What is it you are actually finding of interest? Being good natured would only go so far for my own driving. Its what cassette tapes (?) were made for.

His surrogate was featured prominently in the 2002 miniseries, "Taken", on the SyFy Channel. It's not horrible.

Well first of all, I was only a couple of years out of high school so hearing all these conspiracy theories, tales of alien abduction, psychic vampires, and ghosts was pretty cool. It helped shape my young, skeptical mind for the real world that is full of kooks.
The thing about hearing stories from wooists is they really believe what they are saying. It's fascinating.
Second, these stories kept me awake on those long, lonely nights better than any cup of coffee could so yeah, it was compelling.

The whole point of fiction is for it to be compelling but not believed.

Wooist talk radio is frequently entertaining.
Listening twice as much as you speak is a sign of wisdom.

Just get a rooftop near the exit to the factory where Jacob Kowalski works.

Re: RIP Art Bell
^^^^In 1997 syndicated talk show host Art Bell received a frantic call from a man claiming to have worked in Area 51. The entire radio station was zapped off the air as soon as the caller began to reveal detailed plans concerning "aliens" the government, and the population

Yes, the world is a little saner, but less fun, without Art Bell.

I sometimes suspect that Bell came to the rational conclusion years ago, but he kept doing his job. I picture a poster on the wall of his studio:

THEY WANT TO BELIEVE
