DUNKIRK - a good movie - but

Postby psychiatry is a scam » Fri Jul 21, 2017 7:58 am

there is a documentary --- Battle of Britain : the real story ---

in it an actual RAF pilot states the spitfire / hurricane had 14.7 seconds of "pea shooter" .303 fire power .

the Messerschmitt 109 had 55 seconds and fuel injection .

so the movie all though not as absurd as most of todays movies .
is still a lala land fantasy .
for the real minority ; there will be no justice , there will be no peace .
makes sense 2me , so it has 2be wrong .

The Browning 1919 .30 cal. MG had a firing rate of 400-600 rounds per minute. That gives the A wing planes nearly a minute of continuous fire at the low end.

P-51's had eight .50 cal. MGs. (That's four hundred pounds of lead a minute (while screwing up the barrels, of course.)) Same with the P-48s. Bad news for ground pounders.

I played with a flight simulator once that let me select, but I think the options were between 2 or 8, nothing in between.

Not that I trust a flight simulator to be accurate, but then again, some of the people who are into those things get their panties in a knot if there's a bolt out of place in their reconstructions.
