homunculus episode / psychological homunculus

Postby munsterspeek » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:49 pm

Not related tot he artificial being directly, but an old psychological model mapped regions of the brain to regions of the human body they controlled, and the gargoyle created this way that was dubbed the "homunculus". The picture alone is probably pretty monstrous.

The logical fallacy of the homunculus argument might also be of interest to skeptics... a solipsism that occurs many times in discussions of the soul vs materialism and so on.

Again not directly related to the concept discussed in the episode so maybe at a tangent.

Indeed it is grotesque!

A tangent perhaps but an interesting one.

I've got to read Alraune some day.

Here's a better picture.
This being was produced using the same process as other beings, and therefore, may contain traces of nuts.

I hope that picture doesn't mean Pixar is doing a movie about it.
