What did this ?

Postby Lance Kennedy » Sat Oct 28, 2017 6:45 pm

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/basketbal ... ous-damage

An aircraft at 30,000 feet hits something and is left with a big dent in the nose. What caused it ?
No birds fly at 30,000 feet, and a drone cannot get that high. What is your best guess ?

My Ideas.
1. A meteor seems unlikely since it would be going so fast it would go right through the plane.
2. A freak chunk of ice that formed at altitude ??

Were there other aircraft in the area at the time?

Don't discount space junk deorbiting.

That is true, Bobbo. But note that I am prepared, unlike some (and I did not mention Xouper) to admit when I am wrong.

From the link........sure looks like the nose of the a/c should be an inflatable balloon? Let the bird bounce off it and just add some air pressure to pop it back out. .................... I think I have some patent filing forms around here someplace.....

I was thinking Jeebus hisself, but an angel makes more sense.

That's not an angel, angels leave halo impressions in the snow. That's a snow hippy!

On an unrelated note...
has anyone seen Superman lately?
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.
