You have a point.
However, there does seem to be ONE principle that might work.
Anything that is associated with reasonable amounts of dietary fiber appears to be healthy.
Raw fruit contains lots of sugar, but also lots of fiber and is healthy.
Wholemeal bread contains lots of starch, but also lots of fiber and is healthy. Ditto a wide range of healthy vegetables.

The fiber slows absorption of digested material, and tends to be associated with more nutrients (because high fiber usually means less processing to remove nutrients.). The only healthy foods that are free of fiber are animal proteins, for an obvious reason.

Actually, I agree that coconut is good. It is just the oil that is bad for you.

Life was easy back then. We had plenty of room and opportunity to play outside. This helped us to burn some calories without us even knowing. These days, the type of food parents let their children eat is annoying. Some of them contain high sugar which could cause obesity.
