Neonics

Postby TJrandom » Sun Nov 22, 2015 11:14 am

Neonics finally affecting people…

So maybe, just maybe – some realistic controls will be put in place. (Here in Japan, the agricultural industry regulates agricultural pesticides – and guess what… they permit spraying on food items up to 20 days prior to harvest – even though it takes over 30 days to deteriorate to insignificant levels… or so I have been told.)

patients suffering from recent memory loss, finger tremors, and combined symptoms of headache, general fatigue, palpitation/chest pain, abdominal pain, muscle pain, and cough. Public health researchers later associated these symptoms with the level of exposure to agricultural neonicotinoid insecticides, used on fresh fruits, tea, rice and a host of other human food crops. Urine sampling showed the level of symptoms correlated with the amount of neonicotinoid consumption.

I've been looking for good information on neonics for a while now, and I still can't find anything I feel is trustworthy.

Bird decline 'smoking gun' for pesticide's effects

Neonics have been associated with a decline in bird numbers. This study provides suggested mechanisms for the decline that Japan has in some areas – where not only insects, but also birds no longer exist, according to some members of my honeybee association.

The unfortunate situation for Japan is that our agricultural associations control the use rules and are without checks, except for politicians who are elected by those same associations.
