So, here’s a running total:

Nothing to see, there’s no chaos here.

Whoops, these appointments now require 51 votes, right? Which means the Dems can't block successfully unless a Rand Paul and one or two more GOPers defect.

Russian embassy in London reacts to PM May's demand for answers in the Skripal poisonings: "Any threat to take 'punitive' measures against Russia will meet with a response. The British side should be aware of that." And a note that the UK demands are a "clear provocation."

It's difficult to see this as a serious threat. Russia is 24th/25th on the list of UK imports/exports - not exactly an earth-moving deal. And I'm sure that it couldn't be a threat of overt cyber interference as Russia has already said they don't do that kind of thing. NATO needn't go on full alert quite yet.

A positive:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/13/politics/outside-spending-pa-18/index.html

The fact that outside groups are pouring money into Saccone‘s coffers shows the concern about losing this seat, among others. If Lamb wins it will show that all this money means nothing.

judging from what's coming out from Russia, they don't seem to be very rattled; but there's always the devastating blow of the UK's football team boycotting the World Cup

True - but that's a deadly serious threat which should be used only upon complete failure of diplomacy and imminent invasion of the UK.

The UK Home Office threat is to freeze assets of specific Russian Oligarchs who own property in the UK. However, it's murky how they will judicially chose one oligarch over another.

Why did the Russians do this? I haven't got a clue. It still doesn't make any sense. One unsupported claim was the Russian bloke was still working for the Brits in some capacity. That doesn't seem right. He was a GRU officer who identified photos of potential spies to the Brits, and not an intelligence officer himself.

Perhaps the Russians wan't to pick a public fight with the UK.....but why? If the Russians wanted to drive a larger wedge between the UK and Europe, then this still doesn't make any sense. It would do the opposite.

Perhaps the Brits did something on Russian soil, that we don't know about, and this is a retaliation, but even that makes no sense.

I'm fascinated by this story to see what actually happened.

That's WaPo's view: exploit UK's post-Brexit isolation, demonstrate that UK has alienated its closest allies, play on Trump's inability/unwillingness to react as US would have in past - "If the point was to expose British isolation, it has succeeded: There is no obvious, fast response that the United Kingdom can make, by itself, that really damages Putin."

according to The Onion's reporting, one American asked about the poisoning in Salisbury UK, Glen Frahm, told them, “So what? We were attacked by Russia, too, but you don’t see us doing anything about it.”

gotta say, never could have predicted anything like this: "TWP chief Matthew Heimbach arrested, top spokesman quits" :
Matthew Heimbach, the leader of the Traditionalist Worker Party, is free on bond after being charged with strangulation and battery in southern Indiana. . . .

Details of what led to Heimbach’s arrest on felony charges were not immediately available, though a representative of the Orange County Sheriff's Department confirmed they were related to domestic battery and strangulation. Online court records show the charges were filed Tuesday in Paoli, Indiana, about an hour northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.

A violent Nazi-wannabe? Go figure.

Gotta build that wall:

Trump says if we don’t build that wall we won’t have a country.

I wanted to see the prototypes but the video didn’t show them.

Mike Conaway on his announcement yesterday of the majority's House Intelligence committee draft report (from Mike Memoli tweet):
Mike Conaway also says he misspoke when he told reporters at least twice Monday that he believed Russia actually tried to HELP Clinton.

"Nothing that they did remotely helped Hillary Clinton."

(from Betsy Woodruff tweet)
Rep. Michael Conaway, heading the HPSCI Trump/Russia probe, said their report actually leaves open the possibility that Russia wanted Trump to win

Trey Gowdy (committee member): it is
clear, based on the evidence, Russia had disdain for Secretary Clinton and was motivated in whole or in part by a desire to harm her candidacy or undermine her Presidency had she prevailed.

These {!#%@} clowns can't even spin their deceit for 24 hours.

Hmm, yes the three were seen dining out together last week in an apparent show of solildarity. Has Trump managed to triangulate this triangle?

At least, I now understand why Rex T didn't say anything about the NK summit. He didn't know about it.

But this isn't chaos....
"Still, doubts gnawed at everyone. And under no circumstances could I acknowledge my own similar doubts. In order to coax the participants into psychic stability, I had to appear to be rock-solidly convinced of the necessity of carrying out this horrifyingly cruel command."

Rudolf Höß, hanged facing Auschwitz, the camp he commanded, in April 1947. He admitted to 1.1 to 1.5 million murders carried out under his command. Eichmann told him the number was 2.5 million.

Yes, he claims that he give Tillerson heads up over the weekend . . . but reporters say that Tillerson was "ebullient" about his long-term DOS activities and agenda (Andrea Mitchell) and find it impossible to square Kelly's account with what they observed on the trip - Mitchell said, in an understated way, that Kelly is known to have difficulty explaining these things (translation: Mitchell thinks Kelly is lying through his teeth again)

Whichever version is correct (and it will most likely not be Kelly's), you have to agree that Trump's informing Tillerson by tweet announcing the change is the way to go. Far better than face to face.

Indeed. The other aspect is kind of easy: start with - if your boss was going to fire you, how would you want him or her to handle it. But to Trump it's a humiliation exercise/threat to those remaining.
