sample reactions to Trump's disturbing slurred speech during today's announcement on Jerusalem:
Hugh Hewitt:
Why would you believe anything @HillaryClinton Donald Trump tells you about her his health or anything else?

Meghan McCain:
Hey @TheFix - can Hillary's Donald's health be a considered a valid issue for the media to cover now? My father never fainted on the campaign trail.

VidZette:
Hillary Clinton Donald Trump Has Parkinson's Disease, Physician Confirms

Infowars:
The cover-up of this incident is already in full swing.

The only thing sticks out to me so far about Trump's lack of disclosure here is he doesn't want anyone to know he got dosed with (and was treated for) the clap.

does that cause slurring of speech as we saw in that announcement? I think he is on death's door, has Parkinson's, is a sociopath with a brain disorder, suffers frequent seizures, has a blood clot, needs long peepee breaks, has severe brain damage and is remotely controlled via implants aliens have inserted into the back of his massive head.

I think he pants and snorts so much when he speaks only because he works out so hard, so intensely before his appearances. That's the only thing I can some up with. It's disorienting. Or maybe he snorts coke. I dunno.

Trump said his order to the State Department will begin the process of hiring architects and building contractors to build an embassy that will be a "a magnificent tribute to peace."

I’m sure that the Palestinians and other Muslims will stare in awe at the magnificent tribute to peace.

Slurred speech is a strong indicator of drugs.
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

This is only possible when the President knows no more about diplomacy and international relations than a 6-year-old who was forced to repeat kindergarten. I admit, I don't know how this will "sugar off," as they say here in Vermont. It looks to me like a very unimportant issue intrinsically. What makes it important is the amount of anger and ethnic hatred that is likely to break out.

It also doesn't help that Trump has completely ignored his "good friend" Macron and has mortally offended and humiliated Erdogan, who wasn't crazy about the US to begin with and is head of a country that could wreak havoc on US interests in the Middle East if provoked.

BBC has a helpful roundup of initial reactions: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-42250340

One other problem with the reductionist facts-is-facts apologetic-logic is that it assumes somehow that all parties see the facts the same way and will "hear" Trump's act in the same manner. Clearly, they don't (it's not for nothing that the State Dept has issued travel warnings in the wake of Trump's speech for Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belarus, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, London, and Jordan). That said, I don't think this move is apocalyptic, as some of the responses seem to go, in that the situation is already quite broken and Jared's peace process is, too.

One bit of early speculation from Garry Trudeau's alter ego "Roland Burton Hedley, Jr.":

Roland Burton Hedley, Jr. wrote:Report: State Dept already scouting Jerusalem sites. To be called Trump Embassy Suites, white-glove building to have casino, spa, luxury condos w. breathtaking views of Temple Mount. Stone's throw from Muslim Quarter.
"Reserve a part of your wrath ; you have not seen the worst yet. You suppose that this war has been a criminal blunder and an exceptional horror ; you imagine that before long reason will prevail, and all these inferior people that govern the world will be swept aside, and your own party will reform everything and remain always in office. You are mistaken."

Trumpian views on l'affaire Franken, at once a political attack as hypocrites, especially the female Senators who have pressed on the problem, and a defense of male power run amok:

Laura Ingraham:
But what it really is, is nothing more than a political calculation by the Dems. They have now determined that it's worth sacrificing Franken, just like they did John Conyers, to save the political Titanic that is their party. . . . So I’ll tell you this tonight, be weary of the lynch mob you join today. Because tomorrow, it could be coming for your husband, your brother, your son, and yes, even your president.

Newt Gingrich, opining that the Democratic party is "losing its mind" (although Newt has maintained this position for 30 years or so):
All these nice people, none of whom have given back the money that they raised from Harvey Weinstein, none of whom have repudiated Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, none of whom seemed offended in the past, suddenly in a paroxysm of moral outrage, create a lunch mob. And what you saw today was a lynch mob. Let's not have due process. Let's not ask anybody any questions. Let's not have any chance to have a hearing. Let's just lynch him, because when we get done lynching him, we'll be so pure.

It is factually inaccurate for Gingrich to assert that none of the "lynch mob" has dealt with Bill Clinton. Take Kirsten Gillibrand, for example, who a week or so ago received both widespread praise and flack for prominently saying that Clinton should have left office in the '90s.

The nice thing about this attack is that, had Conyers and Franken not been pressed to resign, people like Ingraham and Gingrich would have accused the Democrats of hypocrisy for failing to remove them.

I am completely shocked. Who saw this coming?

Hamas just called for a new intifada

The IndependentThe leader of Hamas has called for a new uprising against Israel after US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. "We should call for and we should work on launching an intifada in the face of the Zionist enemy," Ismail Haniyeh said in a speech from Gaza on Thursday. A spokesperson for the militant organisation previously said on Wednesday night that Mr Trump had "opened the gates of hell" by taking the unprecedented step of calling the contested city Israeli.

Trump's latest thinking on infrastructure: use $200bn (not $1tn) to incentivize states to pay for the $800bn-$1.5tn more needed for infrastructure development. That would be seeking state tax increases for infrastructure projects, and, yes, that would be taxes that can no longer, under the proposed tax legislation, be deducted (the parameters of this are in conference). Not to mention shifting the burden of paying to states . . . kind of a game of hot potato with infrastructure.

interestingly, the GOP response is to defend Franken (!) in the interests of, on the one hand, attacking Democrats and, on the other, setting up further defenses of their own sexual abusers, in this case by mystification of what is legal and what is political; never in my life, cynical bastard that I am, did I imagine seeing a major political party in the US openly and proudly take its stand in favor of child predation and sexual assault - but this process has been ongoing since last fall and probably the shark jumped at that point . . . I read a column by EJ Dionne yesterday that suggested for those who want to know what today's Republican party is to look at Alabama and Roy Moore . . .

(more on GOP responses, including FOX, beyond Cotton)

Its not about sex, gay or straight, of age or pedophilia. Its about POWER, and how low one will go to keep it.

Pros and Cons to every position. Including denying the Dems the ability to block Supreme Court nominations which beyond War, Tax, Trade, Environment, Respect is about the only actual accomplishment of Trump to date.

Honestly, without going CT here, how DJT sounded was not like what I have heard when someone's mouth is dry. Nor did he make characteristic dry-mouth gestures. He just seemed to have trouble enunciating - he sounded more drunk than parched. And what is with the snorting?

Anyway, the WH, coincidentally, announced today that Trump will get a complete physical after the first of the year.

Agreed, although I won't jump to pharmacological speculation at this juncture.

Okay, re-watched mit Frau Doktor Balmoral.... best guess is he's got some sort of mandibular/orthodontic problem going on.

Couldn't really get a bead on tongue discoloration (the whiteness of the teeth, mein gott, he must have a squad of Marines spit polishing those daily)... perhaps bluish, hard to tell. A blueish tongue might be attributable to cyanosis, but with this guy, who knows.... about the only thing we do know is he exists on a pretty crap diet.

That was weird. Some patients taking dopamine based drugs to fight Parkinson's disease get a weird lower jaw and tongue movement.

Dyskinesia as a side effect induced by long-term treatment with levodopa is reported on the basis of experience with 100 patients with Parkinson's disease receiving the agent for at least one year. Concomitant with clinical improvement demonstrated by patients under levodopa treatment, choreoathetosis appeared as irregularly occurring involuntary movements, involving head, face, jaw, tongue, shoulder, limbs, or trunk. These movements were usually exaggerated by voluntary movements, and the dyskinesia varied in severity throughout the day, being most severe soon after taking a regular dose of the drug.

I first read about this in Oliver Sacks book. Here's Robert acting it out.

Perhaps this is why Trump can't read? :D

Honestly, one knows not... Is he physically {!#%@} up? Could be, he's of an age where serious {!#%@} is a distinct possibility.

Agreed, although I won't jump to pharmacological speculation at this juncture.

Anyway, the WH, coincidentally, announced today that Trump will get a complete physical after the first of the year.

Which will produce another report that never sees the light of day.

. . . I mean Negative Capability, that is, when a man is capable of being in uncertainties, mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact and reason—Coleridge, for instance, would let go by a fine isolated verisimilitude caught from the Penetralium of mystery, from being incapable of remaining content with half-knowledge. - John Keats, 1817
