Also O. Quiet as mice.
"World peace is certainly an ideal worth striving for; in Hitler's opinion it will be realizable only when one power, the racially best one, has attained complete and uncontested supremacy. That can then provide a sort of world police, seeing to it at the same time that the most valuable race is guaranteed the necessary living space. And if no other way is open to them, the lower races will have to restrict themselves accordingly."

True confession: I have heard, of course, of Miramax but, not being a moviegoer, I had never heard of Mr Weinstein until now. He sounds like quite a peach. Among his many accomplishments, his pretending that sexual assault was just a thing everyone was ok with in the 1970s is quite a thing to pull off.

Heard that.... Seems Harv forgot that girls in the '70's dropped trou just to be friendly (sex, drugs rock'n roll, etc) and doesn't seem to differentiate between that and a professional environment where trading/coercion of sexual favors, advancement, hiring are the same thing. My wife is also fairly convinced he was a prolific date rapist and understands none of it at all except in rudimentary entitlemend disordered narcissm and power... Sounds like another resume I can think of..

Him and the ladies seems to always spell trouble, no wonder Ivana's happy to have her freedom and peace...

Washington AG files lawsuit against Trump...

“President Trump’s contraception rules are unfair, unlawful, and unconstitutional,”...

Ferguson alleges that the new rules, announced last week by Trump administration officials, violate the First Amendment by “requiring individuals to bear the burdens of religions to which they do not belong,” as well as the equal protection clause of the Fifth Amendment.

The attorney general also says the new rules violate provisions of the Civil Rights Act..

Trump must be loving it.
He probably set up a mud-wrestling ring in the Roosevelt Room.
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Like with all right-wing groups, the GOP leadership thought they could co-opt the Breitbart / Trump movement.
But unlike the Tea Party, Bannon really does want to burn down the GOP and build something new from the ashes.

Since the GOP will never show a unified front against Trump / Bannon etc., the party is in real danger of fragmenting.

You may find yourself supporting the Trump administration's skills-based immigration plan after all.

Here's why. Using educational attainment as an index, one can list the states in order from highly skilled to low skilled. Using advanced degrees for such an evaluation, we can identify those low-skilled states whose citizens should be denied entry to the more highly skilled parts of the country, following the Trump administration's rationale. Those low-skilled states which would be be granted only the very smallest entry quotas would be the following, in rank order from poorly skilled to worst skilled:

Arizona +3.5%
Missouri +18.6%
Alaska + 14.7
North Carolina +3.7
Florida +1.2
Ohio +8.1
Nebraska +25.0
Montana +20.4
Texas +9.0
Wisconsin +0.8
South Carolina +14.3
Kentucky +29.8
Tennessee +26.0
Alabama +27.7
Indiana +19.2
Wyoming +46.3
Iowa +9.4
Idaho +31.8
Oklahoma +35.4
South Dakota +26.0
Nevada -2.4
Mississippi +17.8
Louisiana +19.6
North Dakota +35.7
Arkansas +26.9
West Virginia +42.2

I have noted Trump's popular vote margin next to the name of each state, which makes clear IMO why these states form the virtual country of Trumpistan. Just one of the low-skill states (NV) failed to give Trump more popular votes than it gave Clinton. Trumpsters don't gain admittance to the US under the skill-based protocol; as Stephen Miller has outlined, spots in the US are reserved for the highly skilled.

However, given the clear geographic skew, and the difficulties of "extreme vetting," it might be simplest to build a wall around the west coast states and the upper midwestern and northeastern states to make it more difficult for low-skilled illegals to come here, just as one practical idea.

(Sorry, Jeffk, but if you are going to live in a low-skill state that tries sending its worst people and which gave Trump a 35 pt margin in its popular vote, you can't come here! I know that this policy will sometimes feel harsh but #MAGA.)

Since the GOP will never show a unified front against Trump / Bannon etc., the party is in real danger of fragmenting.

Most of the high-class media (Times, WaPo, etc) seem to be viewing this battle as another problem for Trump, with focus on his legislative agenda, more congressional distance from the WH, holding majorities in Congress in 2018, etc.

Only CNN - that I can tell - has said that there is upside for Bannon and Trump, with the potential that the Bannon-Trump vs conservative establishment divide is, in CNN's word, "bridgeable." CNN cited as an example of "bridging" (that is, the party kowtows to Trump and Bannon) Lindsey Graham's ass-kissing round of golf with Big Bottom yesterday. And noted, using the same word I did in a post above, that "Trump has a history of taking on GOP establishment figures and crushing them. . . ."

Josh Marshall believes that l'affaire Corker "may be something new and different" because the "civil war" in the GOP jeopardizes the promised tax cut and because Trump's legislative weakness, Bannonism unbridled, and the infighting are likely in his opinion to damage Republican prospects in 2018.

I love it! We need a Constitutional role for "First Ex-Lady." (Actually, we don't even have a role de jure for the First Lady, but a tradition had grown up until recently...)

the more successful Bannon is in replacing GOP candidates with his stooges, the higher the incentive of establishment Republicans to tear down Trump the way Corker has been doing (and probably will continue to do). Yes, it will hurt Republicans in 2018, but it is questionable if it will do much harm given how secure GOP seats are. But there is every reason to assume that the GOPs ability to get anything passed will get crippled even more.
This will make Trump very vulnerable to a primary challenger in 2020.

Corker is 65, and could easily challenge Trump, especially when the Mueller Rico Team starts showing how much of Trump's wealth is based on fraud and the Russian Mafia.

I like your idea, and that's a nice bit of research. It's odd that the states with the lowest skilled workers tend to be the ones that are not exactly overwhelmed with those allegedly low-skilled immigrants. (Kathleen Madigan, the comic from Missouri, says, "We have only two Mexicans in all of Missouri, and they are Spanish teachers." HL Mencken once referred to "places where it would be dangerous to be educated in any real sense, such as North Dakota and Mississippi.")

"Thank you for keeping our country safe!" is something only a "{!#%@} moron" like Trump would say to himself - or a clueless cheerleader would say to Trump - a week after arguably the worst mass murder in American history, the continuing high number of gun homicides in Chicago and other cities, the increase in opioid death and destruction across the US, Trump's threats to undo the Iran nuclear deal . . . perhaps Ian will tell us how Trump has blessed him . . .

A snowflake's guide to free speech and academic freedom:

Looking into professors, Part 1: University of Nevada

Looking into professors, Part 2: Drexel University
"World peace is certainly an ideal worth striving for; in Hitler's opinion it will be realizable only when one power, the racially best one, has attained complete and uncontested supremacy. That can then provide a sort of world police, seeing to it at the same time that the most valuable race is guaranteed the necessary living space. And if no other way is open to them, the lower races will have to restrict themselves accordingly."

Yup, he's the president now, and still the most unpopular president in American history: Gallup tracker, 36/58 (-22). Reuters reported yesterday that, according to results of a recent Reuters/IPSOS poll, in rural areas and small towns, which in November 2016 were overwhelmingly pro-Trump, the façade is beginning to crack, in fact
the Republican president’s popularity is eroding in small towns and rural communities where 15 percent of the country’s population lives. The poll of more than 15,000 adults in “non-metro” areas shows that they are now as likely to disapprove of Trump as they are to approve of him.

(47/47 in these areas now)

Update on Part 2.
"A general conversion among the boys was once effected by the late excellent Mr. Fletcher: one poor boy only excepted, who unfortunately resisted the influence of the Holy Spirit, for which he was severely flogged; which did not fail of the desired effect, and impressed proper notions of religion on his mind."

This is the most disturbing part of Trumpism, this interjection on a personal level by the president or his proxies.

From the interference in the NFL protests to the "look into this" about what professors are saying, Trump shows a willingness to determine what is right or wrong on the football field or in the classroom. It makes his base happy, to see black unpatriotic athletes get it or "liberal professors" put in their place but it sets a bad precedent.

Whilst in office, Trump has enjoyed a decline in his approval rating - in every state. Today, in just 12 states - including low-skill Wyoming, West Virginia, Alabama and Louisiana - does a majority still approve of Trump's performance.

Ian's stupidity always deserves a second look, it's a healthy reminder of what Trumplings stand for.

Sigh.
Oklahoma stands at 58.8%.
