Funny videos

Postby Monster » Mon Mar 28, 2016 2:13 pm

I couldn't find another thread for this particular topic. So, I'm smearing these videos here. Perhaps some of these videos were already on this site, somewhere.

You beat me to posting the John Oliver video. That's going to be my new default retort to our trolls who post endless YouTube videos that they insist we watch.

The John Oliver video was extremely good. Mr Oliver "gets it" and set out a beautiful conspiracy with all the right lunatic nuances.

(I'm a little suspicious that television story line researchers for a handful of Australian comedy shows, read the JREF, this forum and other "skeptic science" forums for ideas, under guidance from an independent comedy executive producer, called Andrew Denton. Only Australians would know this but the original "Chaser" and "John Saffron" teams used to go harass and annoy holocaust deniers, which were broadcast, in Australia for a specific reason, but now seem to continue to borrow other comedy elements. John Oliver's researchers may be doing the same. )

If anyone steals anything from me to put on TV, I want credit under the name "Gypsy Newman".

By the way, I've been putting my funny vid choices in the "What TF Are You Watching?" thread in The Nexus.

Oh. I thought that was more of a general purpose thread, not specific to humor.

And here, I'll ram my favorite Chaser video into this thread. I'm almost certain that I've already smeared this video on this site multiple times. I'll do it again.

That was Julian Morrow. On one hand he takes the piss out of culture. On the other hand he's a serious cricket fan. Good luck to him. :D

That comedian made a really good point. Some people fight against racism as artificially assigning them group characteristics, yet the same people go buy horoscopes.....that assign them group characteristics.

I never thought about that before.

Fahrenheit vs. Celsius

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nROK4cjQVXM
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

That set of short video was particularly well done. I am pretty sure I know how he does each trick but, he does it so well. I don't know anything about this bloke but he has my respect.

I went to a birthday party for an ex British army bloke who became a well known Australian magician. He's 70. Nevertheless, in front of his TV set was a small table with a couple of tricks so he could practice over and over again.

He made a good comment that you must practice for one hour each day without any distractions, so your technique is perfect and then "over learn by practice" while doing other things. He said that lazy magicians who only practice in front of the TV are simply "locking in" their bad habits. It was a really interesting comment.

I'v herd 'need to unlern bad habits' befor. "Locking in bad habits" takes that idea a step further. I like it.

I think all the majik in that video iz dun with editing software, mostly just 2 or 3 variationz uv a sene stiched together.

Oops, forgot what I came here to do:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-FeZg5Jouw
Flatearthers who don't believe Kent Hovind's claims that the Earth is not flat. :falloff:

When Kent shows a picture from "a science book", the flatearther says it's because Kent knows the Bible says the Earth is flat! I fully agree with his point that Kent Hovind will use the Bible as "evidence" when it suits him, but reject it when it does not. Even a flatearther can see that.
