That's awesome! They're telling everyone else to go live in sin!

Here's an hilarious (but not intentionally) take from The Oklahoman: http://newsok.com/oklahoma-marriage-bil ... le/5401207

MANY Oklahomans have sincere, deeply held beliefs that lead them to oppose gay marriage. People holding such views, particularly when based on religious belief, are often wrongly maligned as bigots....

Bwah ha ha ha ha haaaaa!

Let's try it this way: "Many white people have sincere, deeply held beliefs that lead them to oppose black citizenship. People holding such views, particularly when based on religious belief, are often wrongly maligned as bigots."

:rotfl:

...House Bill 1125, by Rep. Todd Russ, was filed to address this problem. Russ, R-Cordell, says some court clerks object to issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, viewing that act as an effective personal endorsement of those marriages. His legislation would abolish state-issued marriage licenses.

Yet the bill preserves the role of court clerks in the marriage process; it merely changes when clerks become involved. Instead of performing official duties in advance of a marriage, clerks would play a formal role after the ceremony. Thus, this legislation fails to address the problem it purports to solve.

So even bigots don't like the bill, because it doesn't go far enough in aiding their bigotry!

If a clerk believes issuing a marriage license to a same-sex couple violates his or her religious beliefs, how is requiring that same clerk to officially record a same-sex marriage substantially different (morally speaking)?

"Morally speaking"? Well, gosh, Poindexter! Morally speaking, if a clerk refuses to perform his legal duties due to his own bigotry, it's bigotry no matter which duty it is he's refusing to perform.

Rep. Dennis Johnson, a Republican, said:

"Marriage was not instituted by government. It was instituted by God. There is no reason for Oklahoma or any state to be involved in marriage."

So were the gay people... "instituted by God" If God didn't want any gay people they wouldn't be here. So God actually wants Oklahoma to be involved in marriage and the gay marriage too.
I don't think God talks to the Oklahoma Christians no more. Poor clueless future inhabitants of hell.
