Japanese IQ test?

If the red house has blue shutters and the green house has red shutters, what's this section for?

Japanese IQ test?

Post #1  Postby skepticdoc » Wed Apr 05, 2006 1:20 pm

You have a 30 minute time limit to figure this out.
Click on the link below and then click on the blue circle.

This is going to do your head in, but it can be done. For those of you
who are not going to even understand the rules (you know who you are),
get someone to explain them to you. Apparently, this is an IQ test
given to job applicants in Japan:

Here are the rules:

Everybody has to cross the river.
Only 2 persons on the raft at a time.
The father cannot stay with any of the daughters without their mother's presence.
The mother cannot stay with any of the sons without their father's presence.
The thief (striped shirt) cannot stay with any family member if the Policeman is not there.
Only the Father, Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.

To start, click on the big! blue circle on the right.
To move the people, click on them.
To move the raft, click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

Got it.

Took me a try or two, though. I had it in less than 20 minutes.

Before I even started the flash, I read the rules about 5 times, Whle I read I thought ... And Managed to get it on the first try. Puzzles like this are my favorite, Try this:

Japanese Riddle:

A man is offered a chance to see heaven and hell, Not being one to turn down a chance like this he accepts the offer. When he gets to hell he sees 8 men at seated at an octagon shaped table. The table is filled with food, But their chopsticks are 4 feet long So they cannot eat. The man is then shown heaven where he sees the same thing, But everyone is eating and happy. How is this possible?

Send me a messege with your answer, and I'll confirm or deny it:)

    1. Everyone in Heaven is about eight times larger than "normal" so the chopsticks are normal in proportion.
    2. The chopsticks are n-dimensional so that only 8 inches of the pointy end is available for use.
    3. The inhabitants are "normal" in size except that they have arms so amazingly long....
    4. The table is so large that they can feed each other.

In heaven they figured out that they could break two sets of the 4' long chopsticks into 8 sets of normal-sized chopsticks of 12" length.

Amen!

"Ainu" means "we're human". Implications obvious. Same issues as with kwai loh and gaijin.

I should've known.  This library book is full of mistakes!  But I can only spot the ones I already knew about...  (You should see the butcher's job they did on the Icelandic myths!  I could edit just about every sentence they wrote on the subject.)

They came up with Ainu in response to the Tale Of The Monkey Thief.

In short, the story (of Chinese origin) goes:
Once upon a time, a monkey stole a beautiful Chinese princess and took her to the island of Japan. When they got there, he raped her. Their children are the Japanese. The End.

I hear they still call Japanese people Monkey Thieves. What a heartwarming story of racial harmony.

How sweet!  I love monkey stories.  Also, hot monkey sex.

The book also said the Ainu claim to be descended from (a) polar bears, and (b) a bear god of some sort.  They said those things in two different paragraphs, however, so I don't know if it was one of each or just one bear that was both polar and a god.

Actually, I've been meaning to Google that, and a few other things from that book.  Also, a map showing how close the northern island of Japan is to the natural habitat of the polar bear.  I'd never considered a connection between the two before.  Really?  The Ainu knew about polar bears?  If true, that's pretty cool.

Monkeys = Awesome. It's way cooler to be a polar bear though. I wish I was descended from a bear god. Lucky Ainu bastards.

BTW, this is Chinese, not Japanese. Judging from the use of traditional character, it's from either Hong Kong or Taiwan.  I am guessing Taiwan.

It wasn't too hard, but the trick is that while a parent is not allowed to be alone with their opposite-sex children but it's perfectly fine to just leave the children alone without adult supervision.  What kind of twisted logic is this?

The first two rules translate to be:
If the father/mother sees that the mother/father left the daughter/son, the father/mother will punish the daughters/son.
Makes you wonder what "punish" means.
