Here is how we all die: from our teen delinquents

http://www.kurzweilai.net/a-crack-in-cr ... -evolution

It's all about the new Nobel Winning Crispr technology:

"CRISPR, a new genome editing tool, could transform the field of biology"
http://gizmodo.com/everything-you-need- ... 1702114381

The big division is between repairing the soma of born humans vs changing the reproductive genetic code of .........anything.

Its "safe" right now.......in the laboratory of adults. BUT...its going to ESCAPE..... into the desktop applications and 3D biological printers of our unrestrained kiddies..... playing god as they will as a game with life on Earth..... just as gods have always done.

Don't know what "error" will be made, most likely an unintended consequence of something well meant==like turning your green eyed slider into a real Mutant Ninja Turtle to play with......but its coming. CAN'T BE STOPPED.

You gotta love HUMANITY. Big Brain is going to kill us all.

So CRISPR is the new nanotech grey-goo or Skynet A.I.?
I must say that these doomsday technologies never live up to their hype.
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

EM---of those choices, I'd say grey-goo. And the point is that this is NOT a doomsday technology but rather just the opposite: the best life saving technology we have that is advancing the boundaries of medicine and human health/longevity/and happiness.

.............................but Murphy's Law is still with us. 1000 excellent uses............balanced by one bad one. A really bad one. Not on purpose or design but just the random effect of chaos theory. Jurassic Park. We are more than dancing with Mother Nature...............and eventually, unavoidably........she'll spin too fast throwing us into the harsh wall of unintended consequences. always happens when you learn to dance the more difficult steps.

An optimistic view of pessimism. The true pessimist assumes his pessimistic prognostications are doomed to fail.
