"An Honest Liar" Screening Livonia, MI

Postby tmontana48154 » Fri May 22, 2015 2:04 am

So a few years back I heard they were doing a movie on James "The Amazing" Randi. I followed the updates closely and kept getting more and more excited as the release date came closer. When the day did come I was so disappointed that there wasn't a single theater in Michigan showing this film.

To make a long story short I am now hosting a screening of the film for one night only on June 18th at the AMC Livonia 20. I need to get about 70 people to commit to buying tickets in order for the film to show.

I was away, and am a little late to chime in on this, but Randi was of the good guys, a skeptic and a debunker, which you youngsters out there might not know.

3. He doesn’t take kindly to being called a debunker; “scientific investigator” will do just fine, thanks very much. The difference means a lot to him:

“If I were to start out saying, ‘This is not true, and I’m going to prove it’s not true,’ that means I’ve made up my mind in advance. So every project that comes to my attention, I say, ‘I just don’t know what I’m going to find out.’ That may end up — and usually it does end up — as a complete debunking. But I don’t set out to debunk it.”

Hi, Io the lurker.
