Hide posts from ignored users

Postby Pyrrho » Fri Dec 26, 2014 6:46 pm

I've installed a modification to the "ignore user" function.

You'll find the option in your User Control Panel:

ucp.php?i=165

What it does:
Instead of giving you a link to click to view the post within a topic, this hides everything.

What it doesn't do:
It won't hide topics started by ignored users.
It won't hide their name or the link if theirs is the latest post in a forum.
It won't hide quoted portions of their posts.
It won't do your taxes or other mundane tasks you wish you could outsource.
For any forum questions or concerns please e-mail skepticforum@gmail.com or send a PM.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

It won't make their posts make sense.

Perfect! That's exactly what I want. Will it work on Tapatalk too?

Hmm. That I don't know. I have to update Tapatalk anyway and I will see what's what in that regard.

The modification relies on the forum templates. Tapatalk uses its own system. There may be a way to implement eventually.

Sort of. It's similar to the old desktop ignore feature but a little more intrusive. I was going to give you a screenshot but my phone won't let me reduce the resolution low enough.

I think the RPRI (Republican Propaganda Research Institute) haz a much better ignore applet available. It would just be a single word or picture added to anything that you wanted to ignore and it would become invizable to you. They uze several - democrat, Obama, left wing, progressive - but it can be anything. A red dot in the corner for example.

I used Tapatalk to ignore Tapatalk and now my handheld device is an interdimensional doorway. Technically, I was never here.

I'm sorry but I have to correct you. Back in 1732 I was writing this exact reply, here today. In 2014.

Did you know that Uranus orbits around a large black hole? It's a shitty fact.

Ok, I looked, it's all PHP, all I could possibly do would be to break it, so I am not fixing it, mostly because I am out of duct tape.

I thought I would like this new feature, but it makes things more confusing. I'm swtiching back to the old way because as it is it looks like Gawdzilla is arguing with himself.
