I accept my fate. The police extracted a full confession. I tied her to a pole by her pigtails, and also threw rocks at her. Not hard, and intended to miss. But apparently that's enough for execution, these days. So, cheerio, old chaps. I'm off to meet my maker.

Oh, and one thing I didn't tell the cops, but I will admit now that I'm to be executed, so I might pass with a clear conscience... One time I was having a snowball fight with my daughter, I wasn't throwing them hard, more like a lob. But she put her face right in the way at the wrong time, and she got a blood nose. She has a sensitive nose like that. But nevertheless, I've learnt my lesson. Males should never throw anything at females, ever. Even tho' she still wanted to keep playing. Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable, and entirely my fault.

She has, however, learnt to dodge. So my sacrifice will not be in vain.

In a roundabout way, I'm saying I'm afraid Matt has succumbed to the mass media man-bashing propaganda prevalent in our society today. Masculinity = bad.

I'm sorry, Matt. But you're going to have to hand in both your Man Card, and your Skeptic Card.

I'll issue you a new Pussy-Whipped Cuck Card personally signed by Steve Shives.

Lie down. Get comfortable. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly and evenly. Imagine you're lying in warm water. Feel the warmth start in your toes, and the tingle rise all the way up your body, spread into your fingertips, and rise all the way to the top of your scalp. Now focus on relaxing every single muscle in your body. From the toes up. As the warm water envelopes you. Feel yourself floating. Don't think. Imagine a point of light. Focus your mind on it. Now listen to your heart. Will it to slow down. Be slow. Be quiet.

Practice for half an hour every day.

I have a nasty tongue and know how to push buttons, I can control it when I'm sober. It was an important lesson to me to learn to shut up after a couple of drinks if someone said "stop being nasty".

Eye surgery is a bummer. I have had cataract surgery on both eyes, and laser correction also on both. Horrible! But the upside is that I now have 20 : 20 distance vision.

I think I just developed a food allergy to chai tea. I've got rashes and hives and they itch like crazy on my arms, back, chest, abdomen, and legs.

What the hell, chai tea? I'm 52 years old! Couldn't you have done this to me in my 20s so I'd know better by now??

I fell off a ladder yesterday and hurt myself. On the bright side, I got to play with a paint stripping "heat gun". It was as much fun as playing with the high pressure water machine.

The builder doesn't share my enthusiasm for gadgets and gets rid of me by giving things to play with.

The sad story of the Argentine submarine

It does appear that the missing submarine exploded or was crushed shortly after its last contact with the Argentine command. I don't know why. The last communication was :

"CNN)Argentina’s navy .... said the sub’s captain reported a “failure” in the vessel’s battery system before it disappeared."

The USA Navy later publicly released information from its sub detection listening cables that :
A sound detected underwater by an international agency on the morning of Nov. 15, around the time the ARA San Juan sent its last signal and in the same area, was “consistent with an explosion,” navy spokesman Enrique Balbi told reporters.

Poor bastards. I hope it was quick.

I'm fairly sure that's what is being claimed. Although I can roughly see on a map where it went down I have no idea how deep that part of the ocean is.

The same awful problem happened to the USA in the 60s.

April 10, 1963: USS Thresher sinks while conducting maneuvers southeast of Massachusetts' Cape Cod, and the loss of all 129 men aboard remains the deadliest peacetime submarine disaster in U.S. history. The nuclear-powered attack submarine signals minor problems to a rescue ship before mechanical failure causes it to rapidly descend below crush depth and implode. The wreckage is found 8,400 feet down on the sea floor.

May 21, 1968: USS Scorpion goes missing 400 miles southwest of the Azores islands in the Atlantic, with loss of all 99 crew on board. The wreckage of the nuclear-powered submarine is found five months later in more than 10,000 feet of water. The cause of the accident is believed to be an accidental torpedo battery activation or explosion.

March 8, 1968: Soviet submarine K-129 armed with nuclear missiles sinks while on patrol in the Pacific, killing all 98 seamen on board. The wreckage is eventually found by USS Halibut northwest of Oahu at a depth of about 16,000 feet. There are suspicions it collided with an American submarine, but the U.S. Navy says the vessel suffered a catastrophic internal explosion.

"Problem with a battery...." //// Those things explode, but I thought not likely with constant qualified surveillance.

Knowing nothing.............I blame the Captain. Silly to die underwater in peacetime. And I'll take an unconscious explosion over drowning any day.

Oh, the Thresher, the finest atomic ship
That ever dived for the sea
Each man on board was a volunteer
Was there 'cause he chose there to be

Every man jack on board was a hero
Every man jack on board there was brave
Every man jack on board was a hero
Each man risked a watery grave

Oh, their wives and their sweethearts came down to port
Their last fond goodbyes there to say
Each tried her best to be tearless and brave
They promised to meet there some day

Every man jack on board was a hero
Every man jack on board there was brave
Every man jack on board was a hero
Each man risked a watery grave

Then "Dive", said the Captain and we held our breath
A sound like she'd broken in two
That was the last we ever heard of her
Last word we had of her crew

Every man jack on board was a hero
Every man jack on board there was brave
Every man jack on board was a hero
Each man risked a watery grave

Oh, the Thresher, yes, now her reactor is still
But very good company she keeps
Men from the Lexington, Hornet and the Wasp
Are down there with her in the deep

Every man jack on board was a hero
Every man jack on board there was brave
Every man jack on board was a hero
Each man risked a watery grave

Oh, the Thresher
