Try get to the Moscow Cat Theatre. It is simply unbelievable.

If you are going to St Petersburg to see the Hermitage Museum, book onto a guided tour, because they get let in early before the masses fill the place up.

There are two Great Patriotic War museums in Moscow. The first is devoted to the 1812 Napoleonic War and Russia's defeat of France. The second is for the defeat of Germany. Both are amazing. :D

The Hermitage Museum was already at the top of my list of places to visit, but that cat theater sounds fantastically bizarre. It's on the itinerary now.

Your itinerary is probably already set "but" years ago right after Russia opened up, I took a Russian Operated Tourist Cruise on the Volga River from Moscow to the South. At that time, travel in Russia was "difficult" but the River Cruise was simply wonderful. No rush of packing and unpacking. No finding a place to eat/sleep/gas up...etc. Dirt Cheap.....even cheaper if you show up at the dock and ask if there is another room available. A good compromise: have a Russian call and make a reservation at the Russian Price.

I'd do it again...........

You do "have to see" the Hermitage, but it was just another museum in my book, Great if you like large rooms and furniture. More interesting: the Estate Homes that are open to the public. Beautiful Architecture, nice gardens, harder to find years ago. You do have to see the Hermitage but if I could only see one "palace" in Russia, it would be the Grand Palace, Peterhof, St. Petersburg, aka "The Summer Palace" as opposed to the Hermitage aka the Winter Palace.

This is what I have been reduced to.........

I built a large kit baby cot on wheels yesterday. The mid-wife has told us its OK to put the two twins in one cot for the first three months. It will live next to our bed at night and get wheeled around during the day.

I then cleared half of the main living room and will order a baby mat. I like this these two. The wolf mat is nice because the twins can pretend to be Romulus and Remus.

They're not maternal twins, mate.

They're going to be completely different kids. Just because they're born the same time doesn't make them the same. They'll be like sisters born at the same time.

So don't expect to treat them like clones. Each will be different.

One twin does all the kicking. I'm immediately summoned to feel this and as soon as I get there, he/she stops kicking.

Once during ultrasound, Amanda said to the doctor. "Did you feel it kick?" whereas I actually saw bubs kick on the big screen. I laughed.

Currently, everything is going so well that our obstetrician is thinking to take them out at the full, 36 weeks by cesarean, whereas twins normally naturally pop out a fortnight earlier, so the last couple of weeks are going to be a bit of a mess concerning timing. This will be late April or early May.

I'm going to be entirely crass here, since this is one of the last bastions of real-talk... There are pros and cons to cesarean. Amanda won't be able to move for a month, so you'll need to step up with the infant care, and she'll have a nasty scar, depending on the surgeon. But at least her pussy will be as tight as a virgin. ;) ;)  Say no more...

Ha! I already do all the washing, cooking and cleaning. When it is Amanda's turn to cook she gets on the phone and asks me to "kick off" dinner, which means dice, chop, grate and have all the ingredients set out like a "how two cook-book". Ten minutes later, as amanda is still on the phone, I start cooking. :D

Plan A : I built the cot next to our bed so all I have to do is lift the bubsies out of the cot, say "tit time" and place them on Amanda. I then read a periodical on modern developments in armoured fighting vehicles, wait for the slurping to stop, lift the bubsies, smell for poo, (change accordingly on mobile change table), place bubsies back in cot, go back to sleep. Twice to three times a night.

Easy!
:D

The nurses got me up and moving as soon as the anesthetic wore off, making me walk "around the block" in the maternity ward. (This was not fun, since it felt like all my guts were going to fall on the floor every time I stood up.)

Major Malfunction wrote:and she'll have a nasty scar, depending on the surgeon.
My scar is pretty nasty, but only because it's vertical. It was an emergency c-section, and I was tiny (47kg when I got pregnant, 61kg at term) while she was big (nearly 4kg). Most are "bikini line" scars about 13cm long.

I had a 2-month battery of tests, all of which came back fine, indicating NED (no evidence of disease). I believe we will do this for two years and then progress to 6-month tests, if NED continues. :redwine: :pc:

I got a mail from my phone provider today notifying me of changes to my account. "Here we go", I thought. "How much have they bumped-up the price this time?"

We've increased your data, and you now have unlimited calls and texts to any phone in the country, for the same price.

:shockd:

Nah, you don't geddit. It was already the cheapest deal in the country, and there's no lock-in. It had unlimited calls on the same carrier, but now they're just like, "{!#%@} it! Call all the things!"

I suppose it would reduce the complexity and administration costs of managing a whole bunch of different penny-pinching legacy plans. And make it the absolute best deal in the country. So when word gets out, a lot more customers.

Sounds like some business nous to me.

This particular company has been under-cutting the two big telco's duopoly for years now. And they've been building their own infrastructure in the meantime. So maybe they're established enough to feel confident enough to switch on the network they've been quietly building.

Maybe Matt can find out more about it. He's good at that stuff...

TPG.

But hey! It's good for me! I'm not complaining!

Oz telecoms are heavily regulated. No way they're not abiding by the govt mandates. They're installing equipment in govt facilities. They're a legit telco. Probably #3 now in Oz.

Why do they charge for how much data xfer you use anyway? It's not like they have to back a truck up to your door or something.

You could try downloading the schematics and 3D printing one. But plastic doesn't usually go well with fire, so you might still have to wait for that truck a little while longer.

Yesterday, there was a large cock pheasant strolling around the garden. He's gone today. However, I've just been up to inspect the pond. I only got half way and had to stop. There are two ducks up there - a male and a female, looking amorous. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (it would really cut down on the mowing).

Just popping in to say we had two boys on Saturday morning. They are eight weeks premature but that's OK. They are in humidicribs but very healthy.

It was a weird Saturday, as none of this was expected. We went in for a regular scan and the director of prenatal came in for a consultation and decided that "now was the time". An hour later I was following the boys from theatre to nursery intensive care and still in shock.
:D
