FINIsT KWORTR PaNL!!!
KP FINIsT1 SMoL.jpg

I started fitting it up around 8 am and finisht at 3:52pm. Subtracting Breaking Bad breaks and mosquito swatting, it took about 3 owrz.

I'm usually unflappable, but the skeetrz were in overdrive with the turboz at full boost and finally flapped me. I had to take several long breaks to regain my nonflap status.

I did find a way to chase them off that duznt involv poizoning myslef or the envirement. A spray bottle with soap water (Dawn) works well az a shotgun.

I replased the rear main seal over the last 4 dayz.

Its needed it for yirz, but I wuz afraid to try, kuz I believed it involved taking haf the car apart. (see the RMSLR posts above)

A few weeks ago, befor I got back to work on the kwortr panl project, the rms leak had gotten much wors. It dumped about haf a gallon in 16 milez! the few little grosery runz I'v dun sins then required me to turn the enjin off wenevr I coud to keep the RMSLR frum filling up comnpletely and sucking oil into the intake, cauzing a huje blue cloud.

On my last trip, 3 milez each way to O'Rielly'z auto parts to pick up the rms kit, I added 2 quarts befor I left and they were gon wen I got back!

I wanted to see sum Youtubez about chanjing the seal on the Chrysler 440, but they are all about doing a complete rebild. They show the rms, so I wuz at least able to see that it mite be possible to do it without taking the car apart, wich iz nesusery if you haf to take the tranz off the enjin, like most carz.

With the 440, its a 2 piese seal, so IF you can get to it, your home free!

Wut I discovered iz that the oil pan can be skooched forward almost enuf to get to the seal cap. To make it possible, I chopped haf an inch off the back uv the oil pan.
CRIMD PaN.jpg

Last thing to do iz put in a new pan gasket & make a re-inforsment brij to make up for the metal I cut off.

No rush. A little bit at a time.

The rear main seal repair worked! I cant remember the last time this car didnt leave a puddle under the enjin.

Too short. You could have dragged it out longer, 27 minutes at least. :P

Cool voice-over, though.

Suddenly you seem much more human than one might expect going only by your avatar.

I actually did uze Fotoshop to make a preview KP. Very useful to get an idea uv wut it woud look like in various configurationz, such az a bigger weel opening, the top ej on an angle, lower bottom behind the weel. The biggest advantaj wuz in getting preliminary dimensionz.
KP FOTOsOP.jpg

The befor pik iz wut I started with and it haz a bunch uv layerz, including the aftr pik wich I chopped out the KP and made it fit the befor pik. They were different kuz the car wuz not parked in the same plase, I wuznt in the same plase wen I took the pik, different time uv day etc.

That was a cool video, JO, in so many ways.

It's also an obvious reminder that there are real people behind the forum avatars. You seem like the kind of guy I could totally hang out with. And I don't hear any nooalf accent in your speech. ;)

I will never be able to read any of your posts the same way again. And that's a good result, I think.

I'v wundered if the speed demon in me had withered away from neglect. For the last dozen or so yirz I've been driving like an 80 yir old retired German porn star with hiz nuts tangled under the pedalz in order to avoid traffic tickets.

Yesterday, I found he iz still alive and well. I test drove a 2007 Pacifica for a guy. He brot hiz wife and the servis manajr from the dealership came along for the ride.

My intention wuz only to reveal any problemz with the enjin, tranz, suspension, etc. so uv course I drove hard. Even tho I kept it below the tire skweeling level, there wuz gasping, screaming, swearing and they were all shaking wen we got out.

The minivan wuz impressiv. Very peppy, probably faster than my car, antilok brakes, traction control, no rattlez or skweeks. I recommended that he buy it after the ride, but I dont think he heard. I dont think he'z going to pay the 50$ he agreed to either.

I am often critisized by frendz & family (mostly my dad (RIP) and brother) for wasting so much time and money on my car. They think I'm nuts.

They never had a clue!

Here iz the site uv a true car nut: http://mounteer.ca/

Altho I actually agree that I spend too much time on it, I am a piker compared to Bill Mounteer and most uv the peepl you will find at car showz with their nearly perfect machinez.

I don't. Everyone is entitled to their choice of hobbies.

I don't understand why some people don't get that. I get similar criticisms for some of my hobbies.

Critic: "I don't approve of what you're doing."

Me: "That's interesting. Now you know how _I_ feel."

It could be worse.

You could spend your time with antifa protesting and pillaging and getting arrested.

Or you could collect bottle caps.

At least with cars, you have something useful when you're done.
