Conspiracy theories are ruling my life, please help me to get over them.

Postby KingNarcissist » Thu Apr 20, 2017 2:38 am

Hello.
I created this account about ten minutes ago in order to post this. I am desperate for help and don't really know where else to turn since nothing I've tried works. I understand that this stuff probably doesn't take place often here but I am desperate and I really hope this works for me. If you would, I'd really appreciate you reading this as nobody else really understands what I have to say. I will try to be fully honest and clear, so here goes.

I am a 15 year old boy, Who throughout my life has been sceptical of everything. I was born in a majority catholic country, so I occasionally went to mass as a child. Even though my parents weren't very religious, My dads parents were and he occasionally went to mass with them and took us with him. As they got older we went more as they couldn't get to the church without us bringing them there. Anyways, I digress. As a child in mass I was extremely critical of the church and I once laughed when I learned that I would have to symbolically eat the flesh of a dead guy which was apparently masquerading itself inside a piece of bread, much to my grandmothers dismay. I had essentially concluded that all they taught at church was ridiculous, yet I still went along It as I didn't want to upset my grandmother. After the died, I told my parents I was an atheist, and they didn't mind at all.

Anyways, the point I am trying to make is that I've always been sceptical and haven't really believed anything without the proper amount of evidence to back it up.

As I entered my teenage years, I developed a lot of anxiety and depression, these mainly related to my lack of confidence and body dismorphia. I saw a therapist and have been able to overcome these issues thankfully. When I started seeing a therapist in an attempt to gain some form of confidence, I was successful and was happy with myself for the first time in ages. I was genuinely worry free for weeks but was still going to the therapist to keep in contact.

It was at this point that I began watching conspiracy theorists on YouTube for entertainment. I don't know why, but watching Alex Jones rant about chemicals turning frogs gay gave me a lot of entertainment. However, some of these theories began to seem rational to me. Not Alex Jones' Theories, usually ones on smaller channels who claimed the bigger ones were shills. I started watching YouTuber who claimed that zionists controlled the world, that all the major terror events were either false flags or hoaxes and that the media was trying to brainwash me. Call me an imbecile, but I bought it all. I became a social recluse and didn't want to leave the house. When I attempt to bring it up with therapists they don't seem to be able to help, I think it's because they can't really debunk the theories I mentioned which leaves me inconclusive.

I honestly don't know where to turn. I am currently writing this at 3 am here, I cannot sleep and haven't talked to my friends properly in ages. My parents think what I believe is crazy, they didn't say that, but I could easily tell. I fear for my life to be spent in fear, that I will never do anything as a result of this.

As I said, I don't know where to turn and thought that if the theories could be debunked, I might get over them. They revolve around the Zionist conspiracy and all that it entails. (False flags, hoaxes, vaccines, gmos, all the media being programming techniques)

Thanks for reading this, if you took the time. I'd appreciate it greatly if someone could help me in getting over this.

Stop doing that.

If you want to, try dealing with one conspiracy at a time. It's going to be a lot easier on you and on anyone who might want to respond to you. Having to debunk all conspiracy theories at once is going to be too much of a task for anyone.

You need to understand some things, young man.

1) There are conspiracies, and always have been. Some grand ones.
2) People make money from those doomporn conspiracy videos you watch.
3) Disinformation and misinterpreted information is everywhere on the internet.
4) There are conspiracies designed to steal your time and focus.

Do not feed the conspiracy mongers.

There's no way that this guy is 15 and wrote that at 3 am. Neither are true.

Unfortunately, both are true. I have no way of proving this to you so I won't bother. It is fine if you don't believe me on my age or the time of writing, honestly maybe in some kinda way it's complimentary to be mistaken for older than 15. It must mean my writings appear to be written by somebody older.
Edit: It does say that this was posted at 3:38 am on mine, maybe its different on yours due to the time difference.

It's said if one buys one conspiracy theory it's easy to buy them all (or others).

And there's been research into the issue (here's an article that touches on that) and there might be therapists out there competent in this field. Maybe seek them out?

And what's with the handle, KN? Why would you label yourself as that?

I heard it somewhere and thought it sounded cool. I think it's because King and Narcissist are synonymous and are pretty cool together. I don't think I am a narcissist, some may disagree however. I chose it because I thought it sounded cool. It's my username on a few platforms too...

KIng

There is a simple principle which applies to conspiracy theories. The old saying is : "three people can keep a secret as long as two of them are dead."

While that saying is tongue in cheek, there is still a lot of truth in it. It is literally impossible to keep a secret if too many people know about it. Someone will tattle. As a general rule, if more than seven people share a secret, there is a 50% chance it will be revealed. If more than ten know the secret, then it is almost certain it will be revealed. If it is more than 20, then the secret is definitely gone!

So when you hear about a conspiracy, think about how many people are in that conspiracy. If it is more than ten, then it has already been revealed. If someone claims a conspiracy, with more than 20 people, and claims it is still secret, you know with certainty that the claims are total boolsheet!!

The individual who labels him/her or itself gorgeous is a flake. He/she or it keeps sending crackpot theories, including the idea that the world's secret rulers are alien reptiles. I would not pay much attention to what he/she or it says.

real ones------The Mafia: This secret crime society was virtually unknown until the 1960s, when member Joe Valachi first revealed the society’s secrets to law enforcement officials. What was known was that organized crime existed, but not that the extent of their control included working with the CIA, politicians and the biggest businesses in the world.

3.

MK-ULTRA: In the 1950s to the 1970s, the CIA ran a mind-control project aimed at finding a “truth serum” to use on communist spies. Test subjects were given LSD and other drugs, often without consent, and some were tortured. At least one man, civilian biochemist Frank Olson, who was working for the government, died as a result of the experiments. The project was finally exposed after investigations by the Rockefeller Commission.
-------------Operation Mockingbird: Also in the 1950s to ’70s, the CIA paid a number of well-known domestic and foreign journalists (from big-name media outlets like Time, The Washington Post, The New York Times, CBS and others) to publish CIA propaganda. The CIA also reportedly funded at least one movie, the animated “Animal Farm,” by George Orwell. The Church Committee finally exposed the activities in 1975.

5.

Manhattan Project: The Manhattan Project was the codename for a project conducted during World War II to develop the first atomic bomb. The project was led by the United States, and included participation from the United Kingdom and Canada. Formally designated as the Manhattan Engineer District (MED), it refers specifically to the period of the project from 1942–1946 under the control of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, under the administration of General Leslie R. Groves. The scientific research was directed by American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The project’s roots lay in scientists’ fears since the 1930s that Nazi Germany was also investigating nuclear weapons of its own. Born out of a small research program in 1939, the Manhattan Project eventually employed more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US$2 billion ($22 billion in current value). It resulted in the creation of multiple production and research sites that operated in secret. With the total involved, this makes it one of the largest conspiracies in history. Entire towns were built for short periods of time, employing people, all under secrecy and top national secrecy at that. The government never admitted to it, the media never reported on it, and people had no idea for over 25 years
----------------Asbestos: Between 1930 and 1960, manufacturers did all they could to prevent the link between asbestos and respiratory diseases, including cancer, becoming known, so they could avoid prosecution. American workers had in fact sued the Johns Manville company as far back as 1932, but it was not until 1962 that epidemiologists finally established beyond any doubt what company bosses had known for a long time – asbestos causes cancer.

7.

Watergate: Republican officials spied on the Democratic National Headquarters from the Watergate Hotel in 1972. While conspiracy theories suggested underhanded dealings were taking place, it wasn’t until 1974 that White House tape recordings linked President Nixon to the break-in and forced him to resign.

8.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study: The United States Public Health Service carried out this clinical study on 400 poor, African-American men with syphilis from 1932 to 1972. During the study the men were given false and sometimes dangerous treatments, and adequate treatment was intentionally withheld so the agency could learn more about the disease. While the study was initially supposed to last just six months, it continued for 40 years. Close to 200 of the men died from syphilis or related complications by the end of the study.

And none of those were posited by idiots like you BEFORE they were exposed. They were conspiracies, not the bastardized woo you call "conspiracy theories". Theories are things intelligent people come up with. What you come up with is used in their theoretical study of BS.

It's another sock puppet account of Matt MSV7. :D

Doesn't seem like Matt MSV7.

Also, he spelt "narcissist" correctly. I don't think Matt MSV7 could have done that! :heh:

Yes, that is indeed my Reddit account.

Its not that simple.

By that 'principle' there woud be no such thing az a conspirasy. The main flaw iz that a conspirasy duznt haf to fool everybody forever, it only needz to fool enuf peeple long enuf for the conspiratorz to accomplish wutever it iz they are trying to do.

And frum the eazily available evidens, it seemz therez an upper limit to there being too many peepl in on it - if you go beyond that it bekumz part uv the envirement. Look how long the oil indiuustry haz kept the global warming 'debate' going. GM/Standard Oil/Goodyear kept their public transportation conspirasy secret or in court for decadez. GM kept its leded gas war on brainz going for 70 yirz.

Standard English spelling iz a conspirasy! How many organizationz and individual ijits are in on that?

Jo

You have a strange definition of 'conspiracy'. English language is not a conspiracy. It is simple inertia. Global warming opposition is not a conspiracy. It is simple stupidity.

Of course, you are lying. Here you are, telling us your life is being ruined by conspiracy theories........yet you can't actually set one out one conspiracy theory. Go away.

Apart from trolling skeptic forums, list the other things you have tried?

I'd also like to see if KN will list something in particular or if he has looked through the Conspiracies subforum and read some of the threads? (It's possible the Paranormal section also might yield something illuminati illumining.)

They are both all 3 - conspirasy, inertia & stoopidity.

Therez an anti-nqalf effort by at least a loose assosiation, if not an actual group uv conspiratorz. It works with the major factor, wich iz az you say, inertia and iz fueled by stupidity. Soundz krazy, but go ahed and try looking up 'nooalf' in the newz or on Wikipedia.

I thot you were wun uv the partisipants in the citizenzchallenj vs Sweetpea war. It became pretty clear that the oil industry haz been running a disinformation campane for decadez, going to great expens to supress the facts, muddy the water, sow discord. If thats not a conspirasy, nothing iz.

I was genuinely worry free for weeks but was still going to the therapist to keep in contact.

Anxiety, depression, you thought your penis was too small, went to a therapist, got happy pills, life is good...
Hey what can I say, you are a typical North American teenager. Welcome to the club bro. And watch for fentanyl mixed with your ecstasy pills, eh.

Yes, that is indeed my Reddit account.

I for one believe (and I hate that word, "believe") that you are not Matt MSV7. If you ignore the others' cynicism for a while and just present yourself to them, they'll come around too. Don't take it to heart. We do get several people coming around this place, repeatedly making new accounts and spamming us with fake stories.

So, what in particular would you like to address? Start off small for us, we can't cover big picture items like "all conspiracy theories" or "the science of global warming". (Think of those as four-year college degrees. We're hoping you'll start us off with simple homework assignments.)
